My hiboost day (kinda long)

Ok i have a loit to tell, so I am going to start with the install. Over-all the install went o.k. The intercooler and pipes fit in fairly easily, and i had no major issues. There were however, a couple set backs. First off, the directions. Are they right? well yes, but they are not in chronological order. For example, the directions tell you to install the pipes and you do....only to find out that you ave to takr them all back off again to get the radiator fan back in place...a pain. Secondly, they really, really need to include a second radiatior bracket, as half the radiator is left to dangle in the breeze if you dont fab one yourself like i and other have done. Besides that the directions are ok and the fitment is...well as good as your going to get when thigns are in such a squeeze. My only beef with the kit is its rigity. When al is siad and done and the pipes are on, they are rock solid. Which is not a good thng when you take into account the considerable movment of the engine itself back and forth. So i decided to take her out for a spin. She pulls great. i hit the hiboost and holy s***! pulls so smooth! Until the engine cut off, the lght swhen out, the car died and i was sitting in the middle of the road. I get out to investigate and sure enough the turbo to intercooler pipe decided to take an early vacation and chill about 4 inches from the turbo inlet. No big deal, but this means i have to find a way of securing the pipes better before i can realy feel the fmic and intake. I was thinkning of maybe getting a longer coupleing and maybe it will be for flexible? Any input here is appreciated. Over all the install took me and a friend about 3.5-4.5 hourse..not too bad. Now on to the bov. I decided for the time being to vent my greddy type s. I followed TXSpeeddemon's howe to and adjusted the greddy pretty tight and it works pretty well. I did stall once, and ocassionaly the rpm's dip a little lower than im comfortable with but its nothing like the stalling i exopected and is easily drivable. Do i have the turkey you ask? Well yes and no. If i am accelerating an di let off the throtte i get the fluttering turkey and a whistle from the greddy. However when in boost i get abouot 0.01 seconds of tukey (barley audible) and the rest is all whoosh and whistle..very sexy. However i do plan to run the dual-setup soon. well thats my write-up!

get t-bolt clamps and that will cure your problem with the hoses popping off :)

Or mark the proper connection depth with a marker before putting them in the bay where it's hard to tell if it's right. If they are on right they will not come off.

hey could you maybe post which order the intructions should go in so i can write it down??

Congratulations though!

And another quick question, are you running the stock exhaust and clutch?

The clamps supplied are real good quality. It is just a matter of undestanding how they work. They should be tighten with a 5/16 hex screwdriver or a socket and the clamp must be behind the pipe bead.

We use these clamps on all or cars and turbo kits and they perform very good. Those are the same we use in the HiBoost P5 running up to 22 psi. We run 18 psi daily and no problems.

I have had problems with blowing piping off..your best bet is to just double clamp that b****! That's what i did..and been all good!

Can't belive how fast you got yours installed..most people easily takes them upwards of 6hrs!

haha you need someone a lot smarter than me to do that! (stoned) Im getting a mid pipe as soon as i can..and yes i have stock clutch. I am definitly going to do tat hairspray thing (dance) ..and to be safe im going to double clamp some of the pipes. cant wait to get all this stuff done so i can feel the power!

no kidding! That's how i punched a hole in my radiator... it was late and I thought I'd loosen them to get them out of the way instead of taking them out.

man i hate when pipes blow off, i had one let go on the way to the new jersey meet a while back, lol we had like 12 proteges pulled over on the highway so i could fix it,needless to say t-bolt clamps and some good old extra strenth auqunet and she is as good as new.

If you're having problems with the pipes coming off, make sure you've got the couplings in the right place.

ouch man..i saw that you did that and i was being very careful. I may have had some of the pipes pushed to far into the connectors..so today im going to refit all of them, double clamp some of them and hairspray them all! Ill let you all know if anymore fly off haha.
