My first real problems with my MS6

Well yesterday the silver bezel and shift pattern plate on the top of the shifter knob almost came off in my hand. Well it is still held on by a rivit at the rear but you can swivel it around almost 180 degrees. This is really annoying.

Also I heard a "Clunk" from the rear end when shifting from 1st(~4000rpm) to 2nd. After that I head this consistant popping/binding sound comming from the rear, sounds like right side. It happens when I hit a bump or when I am turning, it gets real bad when I turn left and accelerate through the turn.

So I dropped the car off at the local Mazda dealer this morning and they haven't got to it yet to see what the problems are....hopefully they will be under warranty.

I just wanted to put this out there in case anybody else has had/heard of these problems.

well, i hope you hear back soon, I just got mine back from the dealer a couple days ago. the hydraulic system in the clutch failed somehow and it lost pressure. the clutch pedal stuck to the ground, that in turn broke the clutch into pieces, witch then damaged the flywheel. thank god for warranty service!! they replaced the clutch, flywheel, master cylinder and slave cylinder on the car. now the clutch and shifter are smoother than when i bought the car!! well good luck to you

Well the dealer said that everything in the rear end was perfectly fine.

They did point out that one of the brackets on my recently done custom exhaust was attached to the pipe but not to the car and that the pipe could be moved by hand about 3"-4" in any direction. I will take it back to the shop that did the work tomorrow and have them fix it and hopefully that solves the problem.

On a lighter note they ordered me a new shift knob (under warranty) and said that Mazda charges $250 for just the knob....you read that right $250 JUST FOR THE KNOB!!!!!!

hmph, if that shift pattern plate comes off, maybe applyin' it to a RX-8 shift knob, then install it to the MS6......wat do you think?

The stock knob cost that much?? LOL....I may as well go aftermarket whith one that is heavier and cost around $100 mark :)
