Look, I have 36k on my 2010 mazda5, and I have never changed the oil myself. I have side skirts, so I have not even rotated the tires myself. I got new tires from the dealer on a special, so then I get free tire rotation, and also the oil change is about $30 (at the dealer). I change every 5k. I do however check the tire pressure, if the oil cap is on properly, and also under the car to make sure the tray is properly attached. If it's hanging I would just go to dealer and complain, as they are the only ones that ever did oil changes. Other then replacing rear shocks under warranty, there has been nothing else wrong with the car.
Now, let's talk about the 2006 VW Jetta that I used to own, and purchased brand new (Mexican made POS, and the seed of the Devil). Headlights would burn out, check engine light came on, tires cupped, driver door sagged, speakers stopped working. Clutch was jerky, made awful noise when first started, could not open gas tank, indoor lighting failed randomly, door material wore off, paint on radio wore off. The dealer would always blame it on wear and tear, abuse by customer, or lack of maintenance, even though I made sure that they perform the ripoff service interval that ranged between $300-500 every 10k.
I hope this makes you feel a little better, and maybe you will think about MZ5 differently, which I came to love over time, as I did not put any money into it whatsoever. Look at it this way, it's just a plastic tray, you don't necessarily need it. Put a hole in it, get a metal or plastic bracket, and drill a hole or buy one of these that already have a hole, and just attach it that way. it's really not a big deal. And honestly, I used to do all my oil changes myself, but I stopped as I turned 30. I still do my wife's 2007 civic, because you can literally do it without even jacking up the car.
