My experience on various Mazdaspeed aspects...

i have to say that your comment on the intake is totally wrong. An intake wont exactly give you a shitload of hp, but it makes it a lot easier for your engine to breath, and the power is really noticable when you add more and more hp, because it is a lot easier to suck
 
i believe the car breaths just as good with or wihtout intake...the stock airbox is not as restrictive as you would think...

Ok, here it goes:

I've had nothing but great success with the JoeP FCD (very nice!).

Seriously though, I've had no issues with the FCD. The FCD simply "removes" the 5v MAF limit. You can SAFELY run the FCD all day long, so long as you don't go crazy, turn the boost too high, and lean the car out at high RPMs. If you keep an eye on your A:F ratios, then you don't have anything to worry about.

to answer your first question...
i started a thread because noone else did....maybe i care more? and if you know so much, how come you never started one?

to the explanation, it would be good if you could state what is "boosting too high" what PSI are you talking about?

also, besides de AFR reader, is there any other mods that would make a FCD safer to use?

You, as i do, share the same believe that if done unproperly, it may damage the engine...you have used it, and you have most experience on it, but we did agree on that one thing...

I'm glad that you added a disclaimer. Too many times threads are written like they are absolute facts. If I were a new person or a vistor to this forum, it would be very easy to find some of the information confusing. What doesn't work for some may work for others.

As an example, I did notice some differences after installing my CAI. The car was not flashed at the time of install. It was my first mod and I have no regrets about it. When I purchased my downpipe and Greddy exhaust, I put the exhaust on without the downpipe because of missing hardware. The car seemed to respond differently and I was pleased with the exhaust. When I put on the downpipe a week later, I did not notice any difference and was a bit dissappointed.

These cars are not the same in some respects. Just look at the variance in boost. It was advertised as being 6.9 stock; yet some have more while others have less.
