background: my engine is messed. oil coming out of injen, cylinder 1 2 3 OK on compression (175lbs) cylinder 4 NOT NORMAL (down to 75lbs)

here is what they have seen so far:

2:50pm: on inspection, my EXHAUST VALVE was open, the guy said it shouldn't be like that.
Next update: 8pm.

I am now thinking of port and polishing....

MORE COMING. STAY TUNED.

So one of your pistons hit the vavle bent it and is now stuck open.Sounds costly, but I know that from experience.

I think the stock piston crowns on the FS-DE are designed to prevent that in cases such as these...

And you'd be correct. Unless something extremely catostrophic occured.

hmm. he wasnt done tearing it down just yet.

no 8pm update, they didnt call like they were suppose to

buy a used engine and rebuild it - hell build it up. cost me $600 for an engine with manifolds, throttle body, fuel rail, ignition wires, plugs and had only 19,000 miles on it. slap some forged goodies in it and you'll be good to go.

dude, what happened in the first place that screwed ur engine or ur piston or whatever?

He tried going in reverse at 80+ mph down the highway. He did manage to do that but right as he was spinning back around to make the exit, he missed a shift and his NAWZ blew the engine.

lol

see all my friends think i was runnin the nitrous when it happened. i wasnt...

thats why im suprised it happened when it did.

Yeah man, buy some high compression J&E forged pistons, deck your block, mill the head get some really nice cams, do some porting and polishing. You'll definately get your moneys worth out of it.

well twilight had his head ported and intake manifold polished and he says with tuning from a new ECU he is expecting 15-20whp, it is alot of restriction being freed up from that.

I think a good port and polish job should run between 500-800bux depending on if you have manifold and valve work done also.

and to what degree you port and polish has something to do with it also.

The theory is with the head ported, the mani polished, some valve work, custom ground cams and tuning you could theoretically reach a good 30-35whp gain. yes all that will cost you a grand at least but we are talking a 30whp jump N/A, imagine that plus boost, wow.

now I have to wait for Darin to chime in with his glass half empty/it wont work untill I see it work attitude.

bl0rt

I would pm twilight as he has had a bunch of this work already done.

As for forged internals, the crank is already forged, the pistons have been upgraded with a better crown and such in the newer engines so the rods would be the most important/beneficial forged upgrade to make.

I think a set of 4 pauter rods is like 720 plus shipping retail.

It depends also what you are looking to do, I like a partial N/A buildup with a SMALL boost application to put me between 200-220whp. Of course at that point I assume I will be greedy enough to want to make 300 at the crank.
also these are plans for over the next 1.5-2 yrs.

Most people would be happy with a spool stage2/3 or hiboost and crank it up if you have forged internals and good tuning.

GL with your engine either way you go man, sux to have random s*** like that happen.
I know it didnt happen during gas but how much of a shot were u using? 35, 50?

the pistons do have valve relieves in the crown, but they arent enough for say a timing belt jumping a tooth or something of that nature.

wrong

our engines are non-interference!

Yeah, a friend of mine popped his timing belt in a 1.8 ES and all we had to do was replace it. Definitely a non-interference engine.
