my doomed tail light project

I think if you used the actual mazda paint it would look the best. This picture shows a noticeable difference.

That is because there is no clear coat on the tails

Oh my poor Carbon Fibre Altezzas.

Hahaha.....just jokes Buck. I think that it looks pretty good actually. I think you should keep them on there. A+ for the effort!

Ya tell me about it! well the little project didn't turn out like I had planned. But hey, thanks for the good deal on the lights! :)

It would look nicer if it was flush with the car. The holes can be recessed but the whole thing needs to flow with the cars lines.

actually, it doesn't look too bad. Definitly much better than what is out there aftermarket wise. some more refinments and play with it and i think you may have a winner. A+ on effort, B on final outcome

keep them on my friend. i think those are amazing. after seeing the final product i would actually prolly buy some of those. just. i would need the sunlight silver color..they are great...fix em up a bit. put a clear plastic piece right where the reverse and what not is, and just keep em. a how to..would be great.

thanks for the positive comments guys, u guys may just motivate me to finish up the other light :) A lot of work went into just that one light!

I think a how to would be kinda rough to make clear cut. All I did was tear the covers off my carbon fiber lights and bondoed the crap out of them to smoothout the lines.

Do it Buck! You'll be a pioneer in the Protege community.

I like it I have been wanting to do something like this myself. I thought corksport was going to offer it, but they backed out. I like it put the lens back on and it would look really nice. You can produce them and I would buy one for sure!!!

I would add some more bondo to the left lower lens so it looks uniform then put the clear lens back on and it would look great! It just needs refinement now. You've dug out the diamond and cut some of the facets. Now finish cutting the facets and polish it up into the diamond it really is.

Go for it man. I don't have patent on it...yet :) Im very surprised they are as popular as they are. Well Guys I will try and get going on the other light. It may be another month (between school and work) but I will post a pic of both on the car if and when I finish up. Thanks for all the support! I really wasn't that motivated to finish this project until I heard the comments that have been made. (thumb)

I did a test on my MSP...

The color match is not exact but it was a nice project. I'm not keeping it but it was fun to tried! (cheers)

If you had painted the sides that would look excellent!
