kylenls ENOUGH :) let the guy worry about how much fun he will have this weekend and you.. you just keep thinking about the break in and and warranty work... my car broke down at track did they fix it? YES! they even towed it from the Track! did they question why i was there? NO... Why Because it not their damn business i have bought 25000$ car and when it mine they cant say anything on how it is used... yes they can void if you have aftermarket parts but first they have to prove why that part caused problem!

best way to break in an engine is to get on it within the first 20 miles of its life. not too hard, but give it some nice revs and what not. then change the oil. i forget the site, but there is a guy out there that has a story on it, and it makes perfect sense.

another

sorry i moved on this one and am to lazy to retake it.

Ive heard breaking in right means driving it hard after its warm in the first few miles of its life

its not recommended by the dealer but it was suggested by someone who works on motors for race teams for a living

I've said it before and hacve spoken wiht several machine shops to verify- one complete heat cycle is pretty much all it needs. If anything happens after that, it is a manufacturing defect. The toughest things to "break in" are the rings- and if they don't take in the first 100 miles or so, then there is a problem somewhere... I agree with toucci on this one. I have never had a break in related problem with any engine no matter how it was broken in.

I feel a lot of the "break in" ideas are from flat tappet hydraulic cams in OHV engines- they needed a proper break in to prevent the lifters from being wiped out..

Hmmm thanks for the advise, but I'm still gonna hold off on this one. Not completely comfortable in the car yet. By the way nice pics, looks real good! Kinda has a mini wrx look to it.

Hey, yeah, go with your friend in his WRX and let him show you the ropes. Watch his technique and try to learn as much as you can from him. Get some racing belts for Xmas and build the adapters and put them in over the winter. And when you go out next season, try not to rub it in too much when your MSP takes his WRX to the cleaners! I beat two WRXs to take our local street tire class this year. The MSP is just AWESOME at autox! :D
