Advanced Auto Parts actually rents them for free. You have to pay the value of the tool and you can get a full refund for the next 30 days. Pretty nice compressor too, did the job just right.

Murray's and Autozone have free tool rentals, too.
Oh, and there are Advance Auto Parts stores around. One on Michigan at Merriman and another on Ecorse by Pelham. (thumb)

You don't even need a compressor to change Protege springs, though.

Come on over when you get your springs and we'll hook it up.

what are you going for as far as suspension goes? handling? looks? as low as you can go?

Hey man, I just spent the last 10 minutes reading over all these posts, and quite frankly this is ridiculous. I just wanna say, its your car - do what you like. Its ultimately sitting in front of your house at the end of the day, and is a reflection of yourself and your interests. Living in Michigan (Woodhaven actually), I know its tough and I understand that things don't always work out how they should. As far as the car goes, talk over in the MI forum (as I see you already have) and you'll get more specific help than you sometimes do in the main forums. As far as the paint and stuff goes, if you need a hookup, PM me, ill let you know where to go and who to talk to. I'll be in the shop all next week before I leave on vacation putting on a new body kit on my girlfriends Celica.

And BTW, PM me if you have any questions, I'll be glad to help.

air ride suspension...and the theme of the car is "the warrior" (stoned)

Well, here are my suggestions.

Don't forget the lines of the car no matter what you do. It's the lines that keep everything together, that keep it clean, that keep it looking good.

Also, pick a color theme. For those that know my car, they know that I try to keep things dark. But some people like the brighter tones, like red and yellow. Choose whatever you want. But whatever you do, don't go scattering different hues all over the car, as it will take away from the car's smoothness.

Along those same lines, I highly advise that you get rid of those tails. I have aftermarket tails myself, but I only got them because they go with the rest of my 'color scheme'. Since your car is black, the chrome just .. clashes. It would look much better with a set of dark tails (like mine) -- or there's a set of red aftermarket tails that I saw on the forums somewhere, that looked very nice.

Don't try to take on too many projects at once. I think that might be your main issue. You're trying to do EVERYTHING to the car at the same time -- body kit and suspension and interior and so on. Do one thing at a time, man. It will result in your car not being in pieces for so long, and you'll be able to concentrate more on doing a single mod RIGHT if you're not distracted with doing 30 other things. Know what I mean? Plus, doing one mod at a time allows you to see your car slowly but surely improving -- it's a good feeling.

Good luck!

Yea gotta stick up for my mich peeps here and say that if thats what u like them **** the rest to many get caught up with what others think when u get up in the moring and say man that looks great or cant wait shes all most there then You are doing the right thing seems there are two sides to the spectrum the no body kit no wing types and the other body kit wings air sus crazy paint etc and thats fine Im learning more myself to be less judgemental about peoples cars if they like it then great we need to have more encouragement then soapbox critics

This guy does have a good attitude about his car being riped on so much.

I mean, he has it coming, but he's being a good sport about it.

this thread needs more love for someone willing to share their experience with us. in my humble opinion this thread is the essence of what this forum should NOt be about. The car ain't my thing, but then again, it isn't my car. Owner happy > forum happy. Make it pink, with green velvet interior, those cute little Neon "teddy bear" rims, and an exhaust pipe coming out the floor boards through the middle of the rear window. If it makes you happy then do it. Good luck on your pride and joy.

Wow, thank you Antoine. You beat me to this thread by a couple of days, but nonetheless, I agree.
