I was driving on the highway in the rain & traffic & this crap happens. One car got cut off...slammed on their brakes, next car slams on their brakes, car in front of me slams on their brakes, I slam on my brakes & slide.

Anyone know a great auto body shop in South Shore Mass?? I may take it back to Mazda Gallery where i purchased it. I'm concerned about the insurance & if its totaled & if I'm going to be found at fault since I was on the tail end.

Sucky sucky...

I feel your pain as I was in a similar accident 2+ years ago. I was cited for following too closely. Same circumstance.

Totaled or not you will still have coverage as long as you maintain collision coverage, just have to pay your deductible unless you have accident forgiveness. No matter the circumstances you always have to be prepared to stop. Even if the people in front of you do something stupid or unexpected. Not always fair but thats just how it is.

It's not totaled believe the front of the car is desinged to do that in a crash, and normally the only time a car gets totaled is when the airbags go off.

You're going to be at fault not only because you were on the tail end, but because you weren't paying attention. Goodluck.

hmph...not to be defensive, but when did i say i wasn't paying attention. traffic just started to break so i was able to begin accelerating (maybe to 15mph or so) then the car infront of me slammed on their brakes...not much I can do about that. just a suck situation. oh well.

nope nope, thank god. i was stuck in stop & go traffic & then finally was able to accelerate a little. then i had to slam on my brakes & it was like watching myself in slow motion slide into the car...nooooooooooooooooooooo!!... lol

Proves my point..You weren't paying attention.

You weren't there so you dont know the situation. Unless you witnessed everything play out . . . leave your negative comments to yourself.

Sorry to hear about your car. From the pictures it doesn't look totalled to me but who knows. At least your okay. Good luck

I based my assumptions on what he initially wrote. Remember, this is a forum, we base our statements on what people write....I hope you can clearly understand that.

If he cannot handle any type of criticism, then I suggest he refrains from posting in a public forum.

first off. i think he...is a she.

and when i read her post the first time, i didnt get that she wasnt paying attention from it.
she said she slid into the car in front of her. if she wasnt paying attention she wouldnt have been braking long enough to lock up and slide.

It was raining...Things like this happen, I understand that, but as a safe precaution, giving yourself a good amount of distance from the person ahead of you, in rainy / traffic conditions, should come natural, and if it doesn't, then pay attention next time.

It sounds like most of you people are new to driving or something. Geez...

Accidents happen arkenzo maybe you could be a little more supportive to someone who obviously had no way of avoiding this and not assume she is an idiot not "paying attention" since it was a pile up going down the freeway.

I was in a similar accident and each person involved was responsible for the person in front of them.

It could have been avoided. That's my point. I also never assumed she was an idiot...You probably think that...All I said was it could have been prevented...She could have payed attention to the weather conditions and traffic conditions, by doing this, it could have prevented the accident.

If the car in front of you hit another car in front of them causing them to stop faster than the brakes can manage...

Every accident can be avoided and I'm sure that lesson is pretty much learned untold here...adding Insult to injury doesn't help anything is what I'm trying to say.

Anyone who has ever lived in a high traffic area knows that keeping assured distance is almost impossible. In an ideal world, we would always have time to stop. However, once you establish a nice distance in front of you, someone usually cuts in and fills it. It is inevitable that things like this will happen. Hard to blame the driver outright. I'm guessing you don't have ABS?

Many of you are missing the point. In rainy conditions, you should know better than to follow too close. This is a clearly example of negligence and that is the bottom line.

In the long run, prudence will pay off more than being in a rush.
