2008 Mazda 5, Sport Edition (European)
Just got a call from my Mazda dealer. He told me that my M5 is on it's way to Sweden. A Copper Red Mazda 5 Sport. It will be delivered to me in early december. Can't wait!!!

He will get back to me later this day with the specifikations for the european Sport model later this afternoon. I will post them here then. This info is actually for the dealer network but he is great and submit it to me away.

Actual selling start for the 2008 M5 in sweden is january -08 but I will get my car together with the dealer demonstration cars.

I feel like a child waiting for christmas...(drive)(crazy)

My wife's CWP 5 is scheduled to be built today. It had the VIN assigned early last week. We're thinking early January for delivery. Fingers are crossed for before Christmas.

qddave --

When did you place your order? We're still waiting to hear from our dealer about build dates....

We didn't really order it, per se. We're getting one of the first 3 vehicles allocated to the dealership. If I recall, the dealer's first orders were submitted in September. I'm not too sure though. We told them what we wanted and they had one like it on order. CWP, Touring, sand interior, auto, fogs.

Thanks... we sent a note to the dealer asking for an update; we ordered (hopefully in September) Copper Red, GT w/sand interior (no nav). It's been a bit of a tease to have the '08 pictures circulating, as that is essentially the car!

cancoi,
Copper red is dead sexy. My 2006 3 Hatch is graced with the same pigment. It gets a little dull when dirty, but comes alive in the sun after a wash. Enjoy it! My wife would be getting the same, but she doesn't want the same as me.

We just heard that our CRM GT will land at Port Tacoma on about 11/25 and be on its way to Port Woodhaven, MI, by rail. They have no other time of arrival, but the dealer thought it would be in by early-to-mid December. Yippee!

Just to make it clear - this is the specs for the swedish (european?) version of Mazda 5 sport. I don't have the specs for NA. Believe it's posted somewhere else on this forum. I guess some of the specs is the same as the EU version.

Dealer emailed me today. My wife's 5 was built on the 13th. Now we hurry up and wait. Joy!

would that not be a diesel engine by chance.... if not I am jealous

Good question. In NA Gas refers to regular Gasoline, not Diesel.

Blue Swede, When you refer to Gas, Do you mean: Bensin/Benzin/Petrol or Diesel?

Yes (sadly ;)). As per the trim naming convention (freak), it seems that it also changes from EU Country to Country (i.e. England: TS, TS2, Sport and Furano. Germany: Comfort, Top and Exclusive... I'm also assuming that the Swedish Sport is not the same as the US Sport or Canadian GS, right?)

BTW what way does the toilet water rotate in the toilet itself I always wanted to know lol

(lol) (lol) Above or below the equator?

Above the equator in the same way you see it at home. Below the equator, it rotates in the opposite direction (i.e. Brazil, Chile or Australia). As per the changes of the Mazda5 due to that, I guess they don't give a rat's behind (lol2).

I refer to petrol, or bensin as it's called in sweden. The "Sport" model is the same as the GB Furano model as far as I have seen. Both in looks and in specs. The new model names for 2008 will be "Advance", "Advance Plus" and "Sport". Earlier we had "Comfort", "Touring" and "Sport".

Thanks for the info Blue Swede. Are you then getting a 6MT Bensin/Benzin/Petrol/Gas? You may have posted that already, but don't remember where :D

The other thing that I just noted from the Swedish specs is the true red (new solid)... True Red + 6MT Gas =

All in all it seems that it will be a fun Holiday Season for you and the rest of the people who ordered their 2008 Mazda5s (yes)

My Mazda 5 specs are:

- Copper Red metallic ("Mica")
- 17" wheels
- Xenon headlights
- Roof rails (standard)
- Tinted windows (standard)
- Parking sensors back and front (option)
- 6MT petrol ("bensin") 2.0 litre enginge (sadly the only petrol option in sweden)
- 6 cd changer with mp3 option (standard)
- Seventh seat in middle row (standard)
- All black interiour (only option in sweden)
- Chromed exteriour rear mirrors (option)
- Electric car heating system including interiour coup heater (it gets cold in sweden in the winter) (Defa aftermarket)
- Electric heated front seats (standard)
- Cruise control (standard - wasn't even an option on the petrol M5:s untill 2008)
- Snow tires on 16" alloy wheels (Mazda original wheel with Bridgestone tire)
- Rubber and cloth floor carpets (is that what it's called?)

I will get my car in early december!

I looked at the "true red" color but I found it to shining red. Looks good on a Ferrari but not on a Mazda 5 imo. I was also thinking of getting black leather interiour but the cost of around 2000 USD was to much for me (everything is much more expensive in sweden).
