MX5 or MR2?

Which car do you like better, the Mazda MX5 or the Toyota MR2 Spyder? I personally think the MR2 looks better, has a more aggressive design. What the MR2 has in speed, I hear the MX5 makes up in excellent handling and balance. Anyone with first-hand driving experience behind the wheel of these two cars?

When I got the bug to buy another sportscar in 2006, I looked at used Miatas and tried to find a MR2. I couldn't find a MR2 locally. I guess folks were holding onto them. For sure, they didn't make new ones, either. Then, I realized much of the used Miata market was not up to my standards, either. I decided to go new. Then, I looked at SKY vs Miata. I bought a new Miata less than the price of a SKY and about the same price as a rough looking two year old Mazdaspeed Miata. I still like the MR2; but, I like the idea that Miata may be around for some time to come. Alas, that Miata is gone, now. I replaced it with something with a bad attitude. It's a cute little thing.

When it comes down to it, I personally have more fun ripping around turns than going fast in a straight line. I went with the Miata for that reason.

I always wanted to drive a MR2 to see what they were like. Thought I really doubt that I would like it better than a Miata.

Were you looking at the mr-s? It's a wee bit different than a mr2 despite being called a "mr2 spyder." I like the miata more than the mr2.

That's interesting, I will have to check out the MR-S.

I have to say that I'm a bit partial to the Spyder myself, only for styling reason though.
