A couple people i work with have the V6 version of the MX-3 and like to talk a lot of crap. I was just curious how fast they are. Not sure what years they are but it seems like an awful small car for a V6. I drive a stock MSP btw. Think i can take them? Last person up their that talked s*** had a stock 95 mustang V-6 we all know how that went.

I think they have about 160 to 170 hp also. IM not sure on that but some come in v6 version on that mx3. They basically protege with sportier looks. Never raced them myself cos i wanted to have one also.

the mx-3 has a 123hp 1.8 liter V6, kthx

yeah i was about to say 170?? not even close. the stock v6 was pretty limp. the car makes for a good KLZE v6 swap (220 hp) or if you have the four cylinder version the BP-T swap. stock for stock they are absolute dogs.

a mazdaspeed protege would rip off thier heads and s*** down thier throats and wipe its ass with thier shirt.

destroy them and bring shame to countless generations of thier family name.

damn, what's with the angst, it's just a fellow mazda

they're fun in the mountains, who cares about the straights

Doesnt matter now, she burnt up the clutch so she just went and bought a different car. Oh well, gotta find someone else to race.

What?...the KL was in the MX-6 and 2nd gen probe GT's...and they were far from torque monsters (160lb/ft or so)...Both cars ran the 1/4 mile in mid 15's...and both cars put down about 140whp from the 160bhp engine (164bhp for 94 plus models)...a stock MSP with the right driver could take one barely...

but an RSX Type S?...no way...that KL-03 v6 would get eaten alive...The KL-ZE version, which had about 200bhp would be a worthy opponent, but not the case with the North American versions...I have tried it it...I came, I raced, I lost...had the RSX for about 20 feet off the line, then got the bad pop up headlights sucked out of my car (pertaining to when I owned a '93 PGT)...

But I always thought the mX-3's also had an option for that 2.5L V6...I never new the V6 versions were completely different engines from the MX-6's...in either case as someone mentioned...its an easy swap to get a KL-ZE in one...

The mx-3 pretty much had the same type of KL series of engines just with 1.8L of displacement instead of the 2.5L of the mx-6/probe. I have seen some klze (jspec 2.5L) swapped into some mx-3's and that equals to a fast little car. As far as being a torque monster I would have to say that it makes power through out the power band giving it the feeling that it has lots of torque. I mean it is a 6cyl so of course it is going to make power differently than your average 4cyl. Owning both the msp and a pgt there are things like I like about both and of course things I hate about both. The power my pgt makes is smooth and makes ok power on demand. The msp with its shittie fuel mapping makes the car at times less fun to drive. The msp is faster than the pgt. But I think that with some good mods done to the pgt is could take the msp. As far as the klze, it would come down to whether or not it has been tuned properly. If it was and is making good power I would think it would take my msp. Of course my msp only has a corksport exh, an injen, and I'm still running stock boost.

I just think that the MX-6 and the MX-3 are underated by a lot of pepole, I have seen a MX-6 run toe toe with an RSX-s in 1/4 mile it lost but not by much, and I dont know if it was the KL-ZE.

I've seen a 1984 dodge k-body beat the crap out of a 10 second supra. Anycar can beat any other car with enough money put into it.

The v6 mx3 is a freakin joke. I pulled on one on the highway (about 50-90) in 5th and I destroyed him. That was when I was dead stock except for the short shifter, which only adds about 35 whp, so...

I didn't mean it was a bad car. Judging by some of the examples I stil see running around that have no business being on the road, it's clearly reliable. And as has been discussed recently on the forums, all mazdas seem to be amazingly safe.

I was jut implying that the actualy mx3 v6, the engine part, not the car, is a joke.
