MSP's blow up due to color?

BANANA OF FURY
Ok just a small thing i have been noticing lately on the forums. It seems like the early build 03 cars seem to have had their engines last significantly longer, and the 03.5's specifically the yellow ones have all been popping at every chance. Is it possible that a certain color, which was built at a certain time could have all been assembled differently, with a different run of engines, etc. that could cause these engines to be less reliable?

All i know is like the last four boom boom threads not including my own thread have all been from people with yellow cars.

Make sense, or is it just coincidence?

I don't think color should have a relevance. Because the motors are built seperatly and then dropped in.

doesn't make sense

The first gen 03's would seem to be the first to blow as with all cars you are taking a risk buying it the first year it is produced, because based on customer complaints/servic visits they tend to change/tweek things after the first year. If the MSP was made another year I garauntee changes would have been made the following year.

But it appears Mazda jumped the gun too quick and the engines 03/03.5seem to be the exact same in both models, I haven't found any different parts/screws/wires that differ between the 2? So chances are the people who blew there engines on the 03's already blew them a while ago so that's why you don't hear about them any more. I personally have found blown engines in yellow, orange, and black cars without looking.

this might be a stretch here, but??? it may be the person who buys a yellow car (look at me color) might be more of a moder and be pushing the engines a little more than others? I sold 2 mazdaspeeds when I was selling cars and both were Titanium. One was sold to a mother of 2 and the other was a 16 year old girl who just got her license and daddy bought it for her (neither of these cars is getting modded). The yellow cars and the one blue car that we sold in my time there all went to young men, some who had added mods before even taking the car home (fogs/sunroof/tails) so that might? be it?

yellow cars are faster...its been proven so thats why the yellow ones blow up sooner

you're kidding right???

but i agree that it could just be the people that buy yellow beat on yellow. That was the case in my car. A damn marine bought it and kicked the s*** out of it traded it, and i got it. two days later. BOOM.

My guess is a trend but one local guy has his motor blown and it was yellow.

The best guess I have is our cars are hand assembled fromt he dock? Meaning quality and consistancy isnt the same as a mass produced car from the factory. Yellow and titamium were 2003.5. Blue and Sunlight silver were technically 2003.75. Who knows..it is pretty interesting. The only car I've seen blow up locally was a yellow speed. And LSD snaped on a 2003 black MSP...but his engine was okay...he was boosting 10 psi for awhile I beleive.

And yellow is the fastest color...yellow means fast.

Actually I believe titanium is the fastest( Focus), While black is a close second (Me).

Engines are the same. Maybe it's because people that are drawn to yellow like to mod cars and beat the crap out of them.

i think we can all agree that you... umm... how should we say, "pushed" the limits of your car for over 300 hundred passes which is impressive, and your results even more impressive, but honestly, did you think it was gonna hold up? I'm talking about people that are blowing up at stock, or with a CAI...

Well I brought a trailor and I had the spare engine sitting at work..... It sucks for people that blow up without warning, but it is a car and they are all designed to break.

well the 2003s came unflashed, so they have a better chance of making it compared to the 2003.5s that came flashed. The added timing from the flash makes blowing the motor more common in the 03.5s once the boost is upped. fyi-one spike of 10+ psi going full load on a flashed ECU could mean you got yourself a paper weight. putting alot of load in 5th gear im guessing also has a big part in it. Dont put alot of load in 5th ESPECIALLY WITH A FLASHED ECU RUNNING HIGHER THAN STOCK BOOST!.

Hmmm,

Going with the theory that the color of the car reflects the personality of the driver and those who buy yellow cars are more likely to be aggressive/abusive drivers, then wouldn't it be safe to assume that those who bought the spicy orange MSPs would be the ones popping engines left and right? (Being that the orange was arguably the most "look at me" color in the lineup.) However, I don't recall anyone who owns a orange MSP blowing their engine. Not saying that there haven't been plenty, I just can't think of any. However, I can think of quite a few black, titanium and yellow.

Do you think it blew up because of this?

dude lol no way there have been TONS of blown orange

For real? When I was reading through the thread I couldn't think of a single member off the top of my head who had blown the engine on their spicy MSP. But, I'm sure there have been some. Of course the smaller production number of the orange and the fact that like 75% (sarcastic exageration) got totaled out in their first year could have a lot to do with why I can't recall of any off hand.

I like the poll the results should be interesting. lol.
