Of course if you do a little research you may be able to find a full set at a fraction of the cost. I paid $200 for my winter set-up with some tech research and hunting on craigslist.
Blizzaks and Nokian are overpriced. Just grab something 195/65/15, some bad steelies, and make sure the tires have agrressive tread, and VERY soft compund. You're lazy or whatever....
Best size will be 185 / 65/ 15 on a 15" 5x114.3 pattern, or Universal 5 bolt pattern. You want a really soft compound for winter, and narrow & ballon-ish tires.
I'll second the 185/65/15 tires. Mine are Contiental WinterContact TS810. Liked them so much after the Safest wet driving / snow performance, I never took them off since last December. The alloy rims are Mazda (anyone guess which car had them originaly?). I had the center hole enlarged to fit the hub.
