MSP Wheels Covered Under Warranty?

I have a crack on outer edge inside of the rim. Does Warranty cover that? The Tire is fine.

I was driving about 80 mph on the free way 4 weeks ago. I hit this piece of wood and it made a loud sound. So assuming that it was damaged from that, last week i went to a drag strip local to me and I'm assuming it cracked the wheel first from some wheel hop.

The only way I think they would cover it is if you could prove that it cracked due to a defect. Since you said you hit a piece of wood then no, not covered. I know it's a bulls*** deal, I went through the same thing. Driving my 98 GT mustang I hit this grand canyon sized pothole that dented my front right rim, damned pothole was invisible, same color as pavement so I didn't see it coming. Just left it alone and traded the car for the MSP.

Good Luck with the rim. You know you could always take it to the dealer and tell them you noticed it was cracked and see what they do. Just don't tell them you hit a piece of wood.

you insurance WILL cover it. thats what insurance is for. The dealership would cover it if flew off the car or came apart.

Good point, but if he has an insurance deductible that is more than the cost of the rim then there is no point in going through insurance.

wow, I guess not everyone has a $100 deductible like me. That's the only way to make insurance worth-while is to have a low/no deductible. I've been burned by that before. Good luck

jst for refference. The wheel costs $417 and is on backorder for months. I'm ordering a set for my new P5 as we speak.

but it depends whats wrong with the wheel.. i have a 02 cavalier with those 16in chromies when i noticed the chrome on all 4 was like bubbling n peeling @ the lugnuts so i took it to the dealer n they actually replaced all 4 wheels UNDER WARRENTY ...so i jus thought i would share that not many ppl can get there rims replaced due to factory defect...............bah!

I wish I had a $100 deductible, mine is $500...(sad2) In that case then insurance would definitely be the way to go especially since the wheels are that expensive. I had no idea they cost that much.

odds are likely the dealer will not cover it. but if you go and play ignorant "I didn't hit anything, I was driving down the freeway doing about 55 and heard a small popping noise. I pulled over and noticed the damage...) I never had the problem with rims but had toyota put new tires on my ''00 Celica GT-S @ 5000 miles after a weekend trip to Moroso killed both front and rears.

As for the Cavalier with the finish problem, yeah, finish is one thing, a crack is another. My dad had his Grand Prix wheels refinished under warranty when the clear coat peeled off.

This is kinda off subject but gives you a good idea of Mazda'z mentality....
Today someone brought a mazdaspeed in for a couple of complaints
-radio inop (of course),
-clunking noise (of course)
-uneven tire wear...... The insides of the tires were completley bald, it was plain and simple that the alignment was off (alignments are supposed to be done during pdi) the car only had 10k, I fought as hard as I could for the guy but the outcome was mazda decided that he shouldve caught the uneven tire wear and since he waited so long (mazda believes you are responsible for your tires condition) he would have to pay for the tires, but mazda would pay for the alignment This is after they agreed with me that it was obviously an alignment problem.

YES, the warranty does cover it, if you bought the extended warranty. I just bought my MSP on Wed, the 22nd of October, and I purchased the extended warranty which they tell me not only covers me for road-hazard warranty, but for the rim as well. So if you have purchased the extended warranty, then you shouldn't have any problems getting the rim replaced.

If he was "just driving along" when the wheel exploded", then maybe.

I'm not sure about what you've heard, but I even have a brochure that shows me it is covered. Just what they are telling me and showing me. I'm just trying to help, not trying to be rude.
