MSP vs SRT-4

Go ahead...I'd really like to see this.

And when you're done, compare my Neon to your Protege.

This should make for some good reading.

sorry there guy but this is one topic where i would just like to(drive) on. no point in wasting time arguing.
i just gave my .02.
you can own it.

I'm not arguing, but I was just trying to see what you're getting at with the "still a Neon" comment. I was really interested in how much better you think a Protege is than a Neon. Oh well, guess I'll never know.

I give much respect to the neon for being fast.... dodge designed a winner with the SRT-4. Mazda designed a winner with the MSP.
Both are excellent cars for around 20k.
Neons are faster enough to be beat a MSP in a race, even through twisties, just because they pull so hard in the straights. MSPs can and iwll pill hard too, it just takes some smart tuning, and about 500 bucks.

Lets not turn this thread into a giant flame war. It gets us no where. Respect both cars for what they are, and in the end, drive what YOU like. Thats why i bought the MSP.

I do respect both cars. Why else would I be in the process of trying to get a MSP? I'm just sick of the "still a Neon" comment. I'm just trying to figure out the significance of such a statement.

its a neon on steriods, whats so different about it from a regular neon?
thats why is what i say, to each their own right?
now the protege well its got roids(not as awesome as a srt-4 but its a start haha, looks and handling.

i messed up the first post so i went back and corrected it only my ass wasnt paying attention and didnt realize i hit the quote option, haha sorry

Um lets see, different engine, different suspension, TURBO, 17" wheels, mufflerless exhaust, different transmission, bigger brakes....do I need to go further?

So pretty much the only thing is has in common with a base Neon is the body and the frame.

look, cause you sound like the type that never lets go,
your peon has a bigger engine and turbo.
thats it! everything else does not stand a chance against a msp!!
thats what thread started over and there it is. but as stated earlier to each their own.
sotck for stock its whatever you LOST, i believe his member name was, would like out of already made car unless you wanna either dump in a bored block and add a bigger turbo and go with the msp.
or change the suspension, interior, and exterior what have you and go for the srturd-4
"walks out"

No I'll let it go, but it's people like you with the "It's still a Neon" mentality that piss me off. I still don't get the significance, but I guess I'll never find out.

I'll tell you, I am as much of a MSP fan as anyone on this post. But I must say no matter what I like the SRT-4, its styled well and very powerfull. I think some people just get a little more militant with their particular brand than others. I give props to somebody no matter what their brand as long as they are truly into their ride. And the SRT-4 is to a Neon as the MSP is to regular old Protege.

It also has the famous dodge reliability in common with the regular neon. I personally like the car and almost bought one myself, but it is still a Dodge and still a neon. If I wanted straight line speed and nothing else, I would have bouht one, but I wanted a car that have a little of everything, that is why I got rid of my 03 specv and got the 03.5 MSP. It is still a nice car, good luck. By the way, I just moved to Vegas about 4 months ago fro Wichita.

The SRT-4 is dope. The car has big huge hairy balls. It's ******* fast as s*** for a $20,000 car. I still haven't seen one on the road and the day I do I'll tell whoever owns it "nice car". Then I will get my ass handed to me in a race.

The SRT-4 is a good car. You don't see him going to the dealer for the clunk, hesitation and stereo problems. Not to mention coolant leaks and a shifter that won't go into gear at times. So much for Mazda's reliability. Now don't get me wrong, I love the MSP and would never get rid of it, but the SRT is an awesome car.

The regular Protege is world famous for reliabilty, but ours does have some problems. The Neon is famous for loads of problems so maybe the SRT-4 will be reliable.

Listen...just to ruffle Qwiks feathers...It's still a Neon :D

But I have my reasons for saying that:

1) I have not ever, and never will enjoy dodge products (except for Mitsus...so SHOOT ME!) ;)

2) I have never ever ever ever EVAR liked neons. They were always to small, too tight, too uncomfortable...too everything negative.

So...when I say "it's still a Neon" it bears significance to me and my experience with Dodges in general and Neons specifically. Now...I've never been in a lancer (though I know the OZ rally is a weak attempt at what it dares to call itself) but perhaps when they change over to that platform and hopefully stop calling it that stupid name (admittedly protege isn't much better...but it's still better!) then I may change my views. Until such a time I will continue to think that Dodge produces icky looking vehicles (all of them) in a substandard array of colors. Enginewise, I never liked the funky obvious dodge sound, but I would imagine w/o mufflers you wouldn't even notice.

I have had bad images in my head about what the Neon/Lancer platform will look like. Those cars have almost nothing in common except their econocar roots.

It all just brings me back to how Saturn killed the SC and SL's with GM's Delta platform. In my opinion, the 2001-02 SC's were the best looking coupes that Saturn put out, and I can't stand the way the ION coupes look. Sorry, my Saturn fanatic side is still showing...lol!
