MSP vs 95 Ford Mustang GT AUTO

Did someone say 88 T-Bird Turbo Coupe? That's the car I learned how to drive in. Imagine a 15 year-old behind the wheel of one of those. :D

My old neighbours had one (cool lookin' car BTW) and their 16yr old (16's legal driving age up here) daughter learning how to drive stick was the funniest thing I ever did see...

Mind you, I learned how to drive stick on a 67 Chevy Suburban named "Goliath"...my instructions were "give it gas and dump the clutch"...biggest one wheel burn out I've ever done!

PS: Good kill on the Rustang!

I had a 94GT auto. Heavy and slow with an auto. Probably close to 16 in the quarter mile. 175 whp and 3600 pounds. You do the math.

yeah its sad that auto tranny on the 4.6 the first years was SO slow the 93 Auto was faster by a half second

Brenerton....would you be interested in selling me some 2.3 parts?? I'm finishing up my turbo-pinto project...I've got the 2.5L block built with less than 500 miles on it, but need the EFI equipment to finish it up. I have the P&P intake manifold....I need an E6 and various electronics....if you have a whole motor with wiring harness for sale I'd like to buy it from you. PM me with info please.

Thermal R&D Makes a 3" Cat-Back exhaust that will fit for our cars.

need more info!!
you sell it?

does it clear the rear bumper skirt?

Nice kill, very cool story. I'm scared to race on the street. I already use my AR....:D

....and thank you for posting it here. Imagine that, an MSP kill story in the MSP section.

The SVO was sweet .....in it's day.

a bone stock 1985 SVO mustang will roast a 2003 MSP....Seriously....walk away from this challenge! The base SVO made 215hp in late 85, had a fully adjustable tokico suspension, no AC, no ps, hand cranks, no power anything, no radio, no sound deadener, nothing....it was a track ready car. A clean fresh SVO will run you about 5-7K now, but worth every penny if you're dead-set on racing fourbangers. Also, these motors are gravy to get in the 10's.

I still say "The SVO was sweet .....in it's day."....

it's a ford. Fast, but Still a ford. I saw the new mach1 with the shaker hood this past weekend, plastic was worse than an SRT-4.

Matty, you are thinking of the Comp Prep version of the SVO. That was a nice car, but there where very few of those made, 40 in 1985.5 and 83 in 1986. They where rated at 205hp, the regular 85's where rated at 175hp. The 85.5 was listed at 0-60 in 6.6 sec and the 1/4 mile in 15.1 sec. The shocks on the SVOs where Koni, not Tokico. The 86 actually had only 200hp due to an ECM change, the 1/4 slowed to 15.3 sec.

But a sweet car none the less. I'd still race one with my MSP!

you're right....I knew they were koni....I dunno why I said that. Yeah a buddy had the comp prep and it was a beast! People saw the dual exhaust and thought GT.....until he pulled him by 5 car lengths! The 175horse cars were early 83-84's right? I thought late 85 was highest power, then the T-coupes came out just 5hp less but a heavier car?? I never had any times, but knew that a car that weighed less with more power and RWD would almost always win!

^ a buddy of mine did a full 1st gear wheelie in one of those on Hollywood Blvd at 2 o'clock in the afternoon.

yeh the gn is a sick car....besides a gt500 the gn is the only old muscle car i would think of purchasing....

While we're on older american turbos, wasn't there a turbo Trans Am at one point?

I can't BELIEVE someone brought up the turbo t/a (rofl) . How about the late 70's early 80's turbo t/a? 301ci (4.9l) v8 turbo ala smokie and the bandit. The 301 was about as useful and a boat anchor as an engine. Same block, same heads as a 455 just bored and stroked to 301.................bad idea. Anyway just had to get in on that!

"The 87-88 Thunderbird Turbocoupe was pretty fast, for a heavy car. Basically the same motor as the SVO"
i think they were turboed six cylinders
plus gt mustangs for 95 ran low 15's not low 16's

from what i know... any gt made before 99 the msp can beat. even the 5.0s but we are talking stock

The Thunderbird Turbocoupes were 2.3L turbo 4's. The T-bird SUPERcoupe is a 3.8L V6 with eaton M62 supercharger. Those things are mad fast. Bone stock made 215hp 310lb/ft. With a full exhaust and blower pulley those cars are FAST! Much faster than any V8 thunderbird.
