Which would u guys think would win in a drag race, an MSP or a 2003 maxima 3.5 V6. Cuz a co. worker of mine wants to run sumtime at qualcom. We both are alright drivers. Just seeing wut my chances are of winning.
never driven either one, but i know the maxima v-6 has some real balls, 0-60 in 6.3, not to shabby and the speed is 7.0 or so un-modded, so i have read, so with your manual and i assume he has an auto then with some skill on your part it could be close
just my .02 cents
shag'
The Max would win hands down... my SR20 Sentra (2.0) couldn't even dust a base auto SE-R which has a 2.5. So with a 3.5 I think he'll start to gain on you before he finishes first and you'll see has butt when he's in second...
But... isn't weight gona make a difference, between my MSP and the maxima. Yeah i don't have a boost controller, is there any way i can crank up the boost?
The only way you can beat a 6 speed max is if you gut your car, chop your roof, doors, hatch, hood, fenders, no seats, pipe, battery, lights etc... you MIGHT beat it like that....
It's 14.7 automatic. They can run low 14s to mid 14s in 6 speed version since the transmission has close gear ratios and a lsd.
The curb weight on the car is 3441 lbs for manual and 3470 lbs for automatic. Horsepower is rated at 265 hp.
Weight to horsepower ratio:
Msp: 2843/170 hp = 16.7
Maxima: 3470/13.09
I know that the msp is underated from the factory so if we compare whp
Msp: 2843/155whp = 18.34
Maxima (auto) : 3470/225whp= 15.4
The mazdaspeed will not be faster than the new maxima in auto or manual forms. I know that some members have got a time of 14.9 in the 1/4 and probably quicker with the reflash. The msp will keep up with the auto version maxima in the 1/4 but after that, the maxima will really start to gain distance. The torque on the 3.5 liter engines is very linear and one of the best v6 engines ever produced. The 6 speed maximas are underated. They are putting down about 240whp.
here's a good idea, just race him and find out. And then come back and tell us what happend. With the numbers thrown out so far you'll probly lose. If it isn't going to happen any time soon pay the 50 bucks and order your mbc and run 9psi (if thats in your comfort zone) and make the altima work for it.
He said Maxima not Altima ND4MSP. The 2k2/2k3 Maximas will beat you in either form hands down. Check out www.maxima.org Forum. These bad boys are fast, I used to own a 99 5spd maxima before my MSP.
