MSP" TOne from Rfront Speakers

I was wondering if I possibly have a bad crossover (if the MSP even has one but I assume we do) because I have a high pitch tone coming from only my Front Right speakers (woofer and tweeter). I swapped HU's with another MSP and I have the same issue which makes me believe its speaker side but since both speakers do it makes me think its between the speakers and the HU making the crossover the culprit.

The tone does NOT change at all depending on Volume level (even when muted) input selection (CD/Radio/Aux).

Any input would be greatly appreciated as this tone is killing me, it cuts through the music, even at high volume levels my ear is keyed to it and it drives me nuts.

Thanks.

Pete

the msp does not have a true crossover other than the headunit's abilities so..
when did this start?
does the pitch change with RPM?
did you mess with the ground at all?

The tone just started appearing a couple months ago. I haven't touched any wiring other then the Cig Ligther and the dim switch for my AEM wb02 and boost gauge. The problem started even before the AEM WB02 and not untill a while after I did the boost gauge lighting.

I am at a complete loss and this tone is killing me. It does not change with RPM lvls either. Its consistently making the same sound no matter what. If the radio is off no noise though and I drive like that often cause the tone is too much to take sometimes.

Could the wiring to the speakers on the right front been messed up somehow? Any ideas on how I can try to isolate this problem?

Thanks!
Pete

Anyone know of a good Car Audio specific message board where I might get some answers?

Thanks

I have been racking my brain all morning and can't think of anything that could be causing this.

not familiar enough with the msp system... is the tone coming from the tweeter or the woofer? you are going to have to pull the door apart and disconnect one of them to better isolate the noise, also if you have a tweeter but no cross over you must have some sort of resistor or something maybe that is the problem... what about using the warranty? do you still have it? can't see why they at least won't look at before they point at your mods and say they caused it....

Are you the only owner of this vehical?
Did you replace any of the door speakers at all?
Did you upgrade the amplifier for the sub?
In short, what have you done to the system?

The noise stops when the head unit is off but the car is on right?
Does the car have to be running to get the noise?

If you disconnect the antenna, does the noise continue?

Typicly a constant tone means that somehow DC voltage is getting into the speaker wires. Typicly, this means the amp is a gonner, in your case that would be the head unit. So if you swapped the head unit and still have the issue, then smothing in the wiring is a miss.

Is it possible, you accidently tapped a speaker wire and are feeding it a direct DC voltage? This can also happen if one of the speaker wires is grounded.

yeah I know I was being a total noobsauce and being annoying but for months I thought it was the HU and when I finally switched them and realized it wasn't I just freaked out because the sound is TERRIBLE and I don't know what it is.

To answer questions 1sty.

1. I am the only owner got the car with 50 miles on it.
2. Never touched the door speakers.
3. No upgrades to amp or sub.
4. Never did anything to the system except install the Aux Adapter which I disconnected to see if that was the problem.
5. The noise stops if the radio is off. If the car is running or not it doesn't matter the noise happens it only DOES NOT happen when the radio is off.
6. I am not sure if I checked to see if noise occurred with antenna not hooked up, we'll check ASAP.
7. There is no way I tapped a speaker wire for anything, I tapped a total of 4 wires. Dim Switch from right behind the swith and the power and ground coming out of the plug for the Cig lighter. Eveything is soldered and shrink wrapped.

If I take the door panel off and connect a voltmeter to the speaker wire with the volume off and the tone is happening and I read power does that mean there is a current that should not exist? I will really look into this next week when I have some free time.

Thanks for all the help so far. and sorry again for being a noobsauce.
