I think I already set everything on the stereo (following the suggested settings) and I think I wouldn't here a sound from the tweeters... is this normal? at least I can't feel it is "shaking" somehow.... do I have to switch on anything in the headunit? like selecting the 6*9 speakes and 8" woofer? or I have did something wrong???

if it's like what I'm getting, I am pretty disappointed with the stereo system.... :(

the tweeters are pretty small and really dont do a whole lot. I can barely hear them unless the volume is way up

I am on the phone with Mazda now tryiong to find out if the tweeters are Mazda or Kenwood and how they are wired in.
I let you know whats going on as soon as I know.

Mazda says the tweeters are not the typical Protege tweeters and that they are kenwoods. I doubt this.

Hopefully someone with a Mazdaspeed can get me some photos of the door and under the door panel!!!!!!!

there are a few possibilties:

First the Kenwoods in the fron doors are a component set with a midrange woofer and a seperate tweeter wired back to a crossover. This is unlikely but if it is the case there may be a tweeter adjustment switch on the crossover that can be bumped up.

Second the the door speaker is actauly a coaxle and the tweeter is wired in series so the front door set of speakers only gets 1/2 the power the headunit is capable of.

Third the Tweeter is actualy the Mazda tweeter which I assume to have a high resistanc to not kill the headunit with a low impedance load and is wired in parallel. The Tweeter is most likely paralled to a Kenwood coaxle speaker. Depending on the tweeters impedance it will probably get only 1/4 te power that the midrange in the doorgets. Hence it isn't very loud.

IN ANY CASE. The kenwwod speakers suck ass. Get a good component and you'll be much happier.

phantom, I trust you are talking about setting up the speakers in the Q settings (while head unit is "ALL OFF"). We discussed this in a previous thread and determined that the speaker type and subwoofer should be set to OFF (sounds strange, but true). I have tweaked the hell out of the regular AUD settings and have found a decent sound. Blows away anything I have had before including Bose in my Audi but the audiophiles are probably right, there are better components out there.

oh gee..... first off, I am a completely stereo idoit!!! but thanks for all the advices anyways (1st MP3 in NH and andr3w).... it sounds so dumb they the Q setting has to turn to woofer and the speakes off, but I'll try to see how it'll sound. I don't think I can hear the tweeters even though I turn it up to 20~.

I'm expecting more then that on my MSP, so it must be someway that I can tweak it out....

yes, I agree that should be sth way better, but it's already way better than 99% stock car, so I won't complaint for now....

and, did any of you guys get really bad reception for the FM radio?? is that something would happen when we have glass antenna?
