MSP Spark plug options

After trying all the different plug material, I'm sold to Iridiums. We are having a VERY hot (and humid) summer and the only plugs that hold well for me are the NGK ZFR6FIX-11 (peak boost at 8 psi, steady at 7). Coppers didn't hold up. Unfortunatly, they don't make them colder, which is what you want with ur setup and climate. I would look at Iridium from Denso, more precisely the IK 22, which is equivalent to a "7" from NGK and is also pregapped at 0.32

PS: a more efficient intercooler would prolly help more....

My car runs very smooth at stock boost on the IK-22s. I will see how it runs with upped boost when I get my GT28rs installed this weekend.

FlyinMSP: Which is colder or better , for boosting over 8psi. NGK ZFR6FIX-11 Or Iridium Denso IK 22. Keep in mind that I live in south texas, with very hot weather 95-100 degrees. Also do the NGK ZFR6FIX-11 come pregapped at .32 ??

The Denso IK 22 are one step colder than the NGK ZFR6FIX-11. The latter comes pregapped at 0.41 (1.1 mm, hence the -11 at the end)
My next set of plugs will be Denso, I've found only but good reviews about them :)

You can find them here:

I've just checked my NGK ZFR6FIX-11 after 3 wweks that I put 'em back on. They are impeccable! Nice tan color all over. No carbon built-up on the edge and no white on the ground electrode. They are just as they should be. :) I've been boosting at 7-8 psi in very warm and humid climate.

so what NGK plugs should i go w/ now?
which ones are 1 step colder than stock? and where to buy / how much?

i am trying to find NGK ZFR7F IX or Denso KJ22 plugs and cant seemed to located these. Anyone know where i can get them? Couldnt find it on sparkplugs.com

Also if i wanna boost 8-9psi are these the plugs i should be using? i Live in Canada so its pretty cold up here~

i ordered mine from cullen at www.**********.com

I dont see the plugs on his site. They have the BKR7E which are not extended gap. only the ZFR7F IX was extended.

IS extended reach that much of an issue??

I could really figure this out with some research, but what would be a good choice for me? I dont know if there's a difference between the plugs you should choose for supercharged vs. turboed.

these are what i bought. they are 1 step colder

Just switched plugs. I was running NGK ZFR7F, however I was having some idle issues and getting more backfire than normal. I switched to Denso IK22 and no more idle issues or backfire. I think that the NGKs were not creating a strong enough spark to ignite all of the fuel being pumped in there. Both plugs were gapped the same, .032. Kind of strange, but all I can say is its denso IK22 from now on.

Where did you get your IK22? Ive been having probems located these.

Sparkplugs.com has them. That's where I got them. They are not cheap, $11.99 each, plus you have to pay shipping. However, it was well worth it. These plugs come pregapped at .032 and cannot be regapped because the electrode will snap off.

Is 19mm reach considered "extended reach". I know our stock plugs are exteneded reach so I wanted to make sure the Denso IK 22s were in fact extended as well, but it doesn't say.
