So guys/gals, tell me how sweet the factory radio is? 450 watts is pretty good on an inexpensive car. I think my pro5 had about 10 watts out of the factory LOL.
Oh yeah, and I saw Car and Driver on TNN this morning, and the test driver was bashing the msp left and right. He said he hated the interior seats, the orange paint, and the ride of the vehicle. What a pr*ck.
I dunno what car is better for 20,500. Guess he's too used to driving those dumb a** lexus
I think (know?) there is no other car for the money that touches the MSP - at least not for what I was wanting; a daily driver, with great usable power, fantastic handling package, a kick-ass sound system, and Mazda quality.
I'm 48 with a passion for sports/touring cars. I wanted a replacement for my '99 Nissan Sentra SE Limited, and after driving the Spec V Type R a couple of times, I did get past that insane interior (most unique), and yes; I might miss not having a sunroof and the cruise control, but the MSP is more refined, especially in the suspension department. I love Nissans, and I could have purchased a Spec V Type R for about $17,000 (big price reduction), but the MSP was calling my name.
My wife has a 2002 Protege ES, so it's a great combo.
It's all personal opinion, of course. I've also about got the Kenwood Sound System figured out!! Ha!
K&N, doesn't yet offer their air filter for the MSP from what Auto Zone told me, but I'm wanting one of those when (if) they become available. Other mods? I know I don't want to go too crazy. Sure, if I could find 200 hp without alot of trouble, that might happen, but I am not changing turbos, or anything like that.
I work with some guys that are simply HP crazy. Hell! I might not ever get a car with 200+ HP. I really thought on this next purchase that might happen, since I was considering the WRX a while back. Nice car, but I didn't want to spend $25,000+ (like my buddy at work did). But; he will never be happy. I know him better than he knows himself. He wasn't happy with hi '93 (390HP) RX-7. God! That was fast (single Apex turbo), Or his '99 Supercharged Civic (nearly 300hp).
In my area (outside of Memphis), more people are hung up with 1/4 mile than anything else. I could care less - I'm more concerned with 'turn 1'! The MSP is plenty quick for now, and maybe the future. We will see. I love the 'complete' MAZDASPEED package. That's what this car is about.
I want to put gas in it, change the oil, wash & wax it, and enjoy it. I don't want to wrench on it. I have a radio control 1:10 Team Associated Touring Car for that (There's a money pit!!!).
Cheers!
