MSP is a POS!

1. The guy said he didn''t abuse his car. He did admit to some spirited driving which is normal for a car like the MSP. I give him the benefit of the doubt

2. He clearly needs to stop getting service done at the stealership if the warranty is expired. They will **** YOU!


3. I would not buy an MSP based on my experience on these forums. My P5 may be slow but so far its run like clockwork! I think the job that callaway did on turboing the FS-DE was a shoddy rush job done to move some product. The car itself has potential and is beautiful to look at and fun to drive, but I don't see it as reliable.

4. I am wary of all turbo Mazdas: The MS3, MS6 and CX-7. I'm already hearing of inconsistent power, power loss due to reflash, and many other issues. the 2.3 DISI is a great motor but I'd wait for a while before getting on board. I'm hoping that Ford/Mazdas new V6 is a good as it seems it's going to be. If the new Mazda6 with the high content V6 comes through, that might be my next car.

5. Overall I'm very much a MAzda fan. They make affordable cars that are fun to drive. All they need to work on now are the dealership experience an some reliability issues and they might have a customer for life in me. Toyotas might be reliable, but they are also boring (except for my sisters Yaris hatch, it's cute!)

Speaking of Yaris hatch... one tried racing me... It was a site to behold! In second gear I was doing 55-60 and he was still chugging along at about 20...

Like others mentioned; it is nice to have a car that you can drive around and say to yourself, wow I can smoke him in a race, but at the same time not look like an idiot driving around with a giant wind and decals on your car.

s*** happens bro, I already had problems, but what can you expect with a brand new, limited production car? Luckily, I got a free extended warranty =)

I just sold mine after putting 75K on it and not driving it much in the last year.

I drove the car HARD. Road course, ice racing, autocross, fun runs.

New england winters. I can't complain about the quality of build in this car. Seems to me if you dont drive it like an idiot people do fine with it.

But then again what do i know.

All of that abuse and still have the stock clutch, rotors, turbo, exhaust...

And i ran 10psi daily.

I dunno about the waste gate and tranny problems but the gasket and rotors are seriously like 30 min jobs lol. As for toyota I love their last gen celica GTS 6 speed with OEM toyota body kit. That is by far my favorite car from them (well made recently) and I honestly believe that it is just as sporty as it's mazda competion and it looks amazing and is probably really reliable. However, they then decided to discontinue that beautiful car and make the Scion Tc... that was a sad sad day. I would recommend you get the celica GTS noted above if you are going toyota route. If you go honda route you can always get the non minivan looking 2000 or new honda civic si those are also really nice I hear and there is SO much aftermarket for it plus you will have VTACK! Acura RSX type s is also really nice and make tons of power but I think their interiors are a little bleh.

these cars are a crap shoot. Some break some don't. Treat it like a baby, you should be fine. Look at it wrong, it might go boom. One thing that is a fact is that these car's have no resale value. This forum i'm sure helps contribute to this.

$9,500 with 75K miles is what i got. Pretty respectable in my opinion for a quick sale.

Could have got more i think.

Someone gave you some bad crack ... have you even looked it up? They are holding value well. KBB doesn't even list it due to it's rare nature and it is one of Edmund's most wanted... pfffft... (loser)

I had to spend like 2grand fixing my motor at 24k miles and just 3 days ago my lsd went....but you know what it was all my fault because i ****** with my car by modding it and not leaving it alone....if you play you pay...that`s all..but dont go saying the MSP is a pos.why dont you buy a stupid srt4 that everybody has or cobalt ss ...there you go those are really ******* unique just like the MSP! oh yeah i`m fixing it and keeping it for evrrrrrrrrr.

Hey now, no need to diss the SRT 4! Thats a well put together car also. Same goes for the cobalt SS. They Do what the MSP is supposed to do and in some cases do some things better. And I'll wager that they are both more reliable. While neither of them looks as good or handles as well as an MSP, they are far from stupid.

I wouldn't mind an SRT-4. Alot of their drivers are cocky but those motors are insane! I saw one throw down 400 whp a while back at the dyno. It seems pretty rare. I don't see alot of them at least in CT. The MSP is definitely rarer though I never see MSP. Well except in my town where we have a big mazda dealer. To be honest it's funny alot of people on other car forums trash SRT-4s as being neons. saying things like "hey at least i'm not driving a boosted neon" but then they worship the WRX and Evo as if they are some super car. However if ya look at it. I mean a wrx and evo are just japanese versions of neons boosted just with imprezas and lancers. Same thing can be said about the MSP and cobalt SS, ain't nuttin wrong with that.
