MSP insurance price

Hey..
I was wondering how much you MSP owner's are paying each year for insurance? I buy my insurance from State Farm and they don't have the Mazdaspeed in their books. So, they insuranced my car under a regualr protege 'LX'. I'm afriad if someone were to vadalize my car or steal something, i won't be able to claim back for a Mazdaspeed part. Anyway, i told the insurance company about my car, and they said it was fine. If it's not listed, the car is fully insurance. But i'm wondering, if there is any circumstances to that 'fully insuranced' part.

Anyway, i'm paying near $1200CAN for 6 months, which is insurance under my dad's name. He's over 50 years of age, and he's got a clean record. I, as a second driver along with my mom and sister is added to the list. Because of me, male driver, high school student, they jack the price up big.

This car isn't even insuranced under the correct name, so i'm worried that when they have 'Mazdaspeed' listed, the price is increase even higher.

All i'm asking is, how much are you guy's paying for your insurance, and where are you getting it from? who's listed? record? etc....

Thanks!

My insurance is with Chubb, but its done through the company so a comparison won't help and I wouldn't know how to break it out of the total. I had trouble with the insurance because they said my serial number didn't make sense .... they asked me for it 3 times. The Mazdaspeeds don't exist for them yet. To be absolutely sure you are covered, fax the bill of sale to them and ask they return fax comfirmation they received it .... that way there can be no doubt.

hi again dpmmsp.
how are you doing? i'm finally in the 3 digit numbers on the odometer today...haha. :D

well, what do you think of how much we're paying for our insurance...but dad thinks it's alot. we jumped from saying around $700/ 6 months in our '93 honda civic.

I'd love to but probably shouldn't ..... I shouldn't even be staring at this screen ..... I'm surrounded by work waiting to be done but this is just a lot more fun:( ......... I'll probably have a fair bit of free time tomorrow though, and I have to return something to Scar T.C. tomorrow sometime.

hey..
i just wanted to see what you would say...
i know you've got work and everything..
it's soo great to still be a student. No 9-5 jobs to worry about yet!
aurgh, is still need a job to get some mods! :D

dpmmsp, what's your first mod going to be?
did you look at the weather report this week? it's awesome!
sunny sunny sunny!...-2 degrees..
:) :)

By first mod, I assume you don't count getting these stupid f*cking wheels to work:mad:
I also assume you don't count the purchase of $60 for rear cupholders:rolleyes:
I won't be doing anything until after the winter ... I want to get to know the car ...... I may not do anything at all.... but it certainly sounds like the wisest thing for power would be to get a straight thru exhaust, or at least from the cat back, and a bigger intercooler.
The car certainly seems to have more power on cold days which would support this theory.

That's good news about the weather .... time to head for the car wash.

Believe me ... there are lots of times I wish I was a student again .... life was easier then in a lot of ways. Hell, there are times I wish I had a 9-5 job. Really though, aspire to a good career, not just a "9-5 job" .... there are times it blows, but in the end its a lot more satisfying and rewarding.

I will be paying 1700 cdn a year for the mazdaspeed...it is 300 more than the MP3

My rates (24 years old, 1 speeding ticket 4 years ago, 2 accidents and 1 act of God where I was 100% no fault) under my own name, are between $3500-$11000(!) per year, based on some online quotes I got. Most were in the $6-7k range.

Grimace..
you're rates are outstanding! How do you afford it?

Oilver2000
Your rate is more like it. Still on the high side...but it's a factory turbo. I understand.
what Company do you buy your insurance from? They actually have 'Mazdaspeed' in their books?

Oliver2000 who are you with and please provide more details if you dont mind. I am a 27 year old single male with one speeding ticket on my record. I have had full time insurance since I was 17 and I have had my last car registered in my name for the last 6 years, the cheapest quote I have found is about 2400 bucks

If I want to keep my 96 Sunfire GT along with the MSP its going to cost about 3800 :wtf: I can't drive two cars at once, this is total :bs: I dont want to drive my MSP all the time I just want to drive it on nice days and sometimes to work, but I guess they dont care.

Does anyone know if there is such a thing as storage insurance? if I get my MSP in January I dont want to drive it until spring so I dont want to pay a ton of money for just putting it into storage.

I got my quote from carinsurance.ca, they list the mazdaspeed as a option.

I am 38 married, no tickets, no accidents etc....own a MP3 and a jeep truck and now ( soon ) a mazdaspeed....yes I like toys, live just outside toronto.

Low rate is $ 1092 with no collision
$ 1855 with $ 300 deductable and $ 1746 with $ 1000 ded.

My wife is getting the MP3

You can just lower your insurance to just fire and theft with most companies...our MP3 is stored and we have just fire and theft on it.

Ohh MP3 and Mazdaspeed ... niice.
I hope you boys will join the rest of us on the autocross course and racetracks at least a few times next Summer!

My MP3 is actually cheaper for insurance than my Protege5 was .. go figure..

oh yeah Mp3 and MAZDASPEED Protege...that's a cool looking garage!

Rowan, does Toprotege.club usually rent out the track for you guys to go lapping? I wouldn't mind coming out with you guys to Shannonville to do some laps, if that's where you guys go. I've never done lapping and would like to try.

thanks for the info Oliver2000, $1940 with $1000 ded for MSP, $2880 for both, a little better. If I insure the MSP for only fire and theft like you suggested during storage and maybe remove full coverage from my GT I should be able to get it down to a reasonable amount :)

Rowan I think I will be in for that track thing, I have never done it but I really want to try it.

This reply is off-topic ... but responding to L.E.'s question about track rental.

I don't think there are enough people in toprotege alone to rent a track. Although depending on how organized we can get by springtime, we may be able to work on something with the Toronto Subaru Club and just have it be people from our two clubs.

No problem glad to help...now all I want for christmas is my car....so I can park her beside our MP3....give them both a nice wax job over the holidays...and wait till spring

Don't know - probably will have to sell an organ. :p

Upto know I was on my parents plan, and my car (93 Asuna Sunfire) was $800/year. But now that I am out of school, the insurance company is cutting me loose, and now my rates will jump up significantly.

Oh well, if you want to play, you've got to pay. :)
