MSP getting some more upgrades!!!

Can't finish up tonight, mounting everything and running the wires properly takes more time than I thought. I will be getting done sometime tomorrow after Dave gets off work. We are on step 10 out of 17.

Some of you reading this should post so I am not talking to myself here, I see a ton of views and no replies.

Forgot to mention, I forgot to fully tighten one of the clamps on my dual stage setup, and popped the wastegate source on the high controller.:( I spiked up to 17.4 psi according to the tattle tell on my TT:O. I saw the warning light go off, heard a few pings, fuel cut, and let off the gas, all in less than a second... lol, it was like slow motion once I saw the warning. All this with no fcd, so please be careful when modding the boost folks. If I hadn't let off so quickly, it could have been a bad situation.

Yeah a similar situation happened to me too....the stock wastegate vacuum hose cracked, and I boosted to 14psi and it starting pinging. No FCD, and more surpisingly, no fuel cut.

Great thread though...keep us updated on everything!!

Alright, thanks for the replies guys, I was getting lonely in here.:D

I took several pics last night, and will take more when we finish tonight. Dave will be here at about 6 to finish the soldering, and then we are going to proceed with the startup and idle tuning. Then it is on to the rev tuning, and finally the load tuning, those will most likely be done tomorrow.

I will post larger and higher quality pics when I get home and back on the cable modem, this ultra slow dial up I am on right now sucks.

This is where we tapped into most of the wires for the install, the zip ties are there to mark which wires we cut:

This is where we mounted the MPI tuner and turbo module, the com cable for the laptop will come neatly out of the glove box, so I can easily hide it when the laptop is not in the car:

Scary stuff huh? I guess I'm not alone when I hope that doesn't happen again, lol. My tattle tell on the TT reads in hkpa, so I had to go home and convert it to see exactly what I hit, but I knew it was over 16. Did the conversion for 1.2 hkpa and got 17.4psi. Barely even felt the cut hit before I let off.(uhm)

Thanks Jersey, I'll keep updating this thread as I go.

Thanks, me too.:D I need to talk you sometime about the gt28rs. I have been eyeing that for awhile now.

Almost done guys, we have been checking and re-checking our connections before soldering them. This is something that we want to make sure is done perfectly. I will post pics of the final product soon. We still plan to tune startup and idle tonight.:)

sweet progress man.

i hear you on that rear mount. i did mine a while back. It ended up takinf 5-6 hrs to do. that wire harness is hell.

I had the same issue with the key needing the A drive on the mpi tuner, the software is really easy to use and tune.

Enjoy

looks like your hand was victim to the ECU cover/board. That b**** is sharp.

Rich,

I admire your courage in modding the MSP. Hopefully, I can 'piggy-back' on your experience when I get around to power modding beyond the bolt-ons.

Corey

Peace...(hippy)

Update:

I have everything hooked up, but I am getting an RPM error so it won't start up. I am troubleshooting with Nick, he has been more than helpful with every aspect of his product. I can safely say that this is the best customer service I have ever recieved. I am waiting for Nick to get back from the store, and I am hoping that we can figure out what's up. Only a matter of time now.:)

Thanks Paul, yea, death to that wire harness (gun) lol.

The software does look very nice to use, I am looking forward to it.:)

Yup, you got it.:D That thing is super sharp, we both have some battle wounds from it. That is Dave's hand in the pic though.:)

I don't know if it's really courage... could just be stupidity, lol.;) I'd be more than happy to help you out though.:)

aahhh come on man....u said it will work!!! hurry up!

haha, it will... everything else on the software is functioning. I can see throttle position change when I tap the gas, the RPM signal is just not working quite right. I am sure that it is something simple.

Subscribing to this thread because I want to use the MPI tuner when I find the bag of money I have been looking for.

Excellent work, cant wait to see the final results
