trying to get a msp ecu. but i i dont know if it will keep me from over boosting. does anyone know if i can over boost on a msp ecu and if so how high can i go

over boosting has nothing to do with the computer on these cars. the msp ecu isn't going to control your boost level. your boost controller (if you own one) or wastegate actuator on the turbo controls boost level. if either one of those is set wrong or broken, thats going to cause your boost to spike. the msp ecu is mapped for a particular turbo setup and turbo size. what are you running right now?

i cant over boost at all and i have a boost controler but i have a mp3 ecu

what are you using for fuel management beyond the mp3 ecu? how much boost are you running?

What do you mean you can't over boost.. that's not something you would want! Do you mean you can't increase the boost with your boost controller? What boost controller is it, are you sure it is installed properly (mine had a label saying "this side toward wastegate actuator"). If it barely building boost at all? Your wastegate actuator diaphram might have failed, causing the wastegate to basically hang open and not allow the turbo to build boost much.

im running 6 psi and i had a turboxs boost controller till i put it on my friends turbo van and it still runs 6 but before i turned it out 6 turns (at the end ) and no change and i even bled it to the atmosphere on i onlyy got 1 psi difference . im still using the stock ecu but im getting am msp ecu

wait a minute let me get this straight. you are boosting on a mp3 ecu with no other method of adding fuel? no fuel pressure regulator, etc?

well not so fast there - i know bryan has a thread going where he has compression problems. number one, depending on the turbo size, 6psi is more than enough for most stock protege engines. number two, the mp3 ecu is totally unsuitable for boost being that it has advanced timing. number three, if he's not using any other method of controlling timing and/or adding fuel its easy to see why his engine is losing compression.
