OK ,I know someone with an MSP has noticed this besides me?I can shift faster than the MSP will let me:wtf: I know there is some kind of slow down restriction either in the slave cylinder or in the clutch master cylinder, but has anyone looked into getting rid of it? I know DSM's have something similar in their slave cylinder that resricts the fluid from flowing too fast.I beleive they do this so that we can't dump the clutch too hard and cause damage to the tranny ,but come on ,this is :bs: because i know that this slow down is hampering my shifting.I know my times at the track are suffering because i can shift faster than it will let me.Any Mazda tech's out there know where they put this restriction in the system and how we can eliminate it?In the DSM's you simply get into the slave and take out the disk with the small opening in it and VOILA! no more restriction. Now, who knows how to fix ours?(scratch) (scratch)

You may chime in now!

Thanx,Matt:cool:

OK,wrong I'm not talking about the shifter itself READ THE POST PLEASE,I'm referring to some sort of restriction in the hydraulic clutch system.I know its there because of how it operates but i'm not sure where the restriction is or how to get rid of it!

Don't we have some Mazda techies on here?If so hey you guys look into this!I'm tellin ya it's there and we need to get rid of it!It is hurting 1/4 times no matter what anyone else tells you!

C'mon guys ,I don't have access to the Mazda info I need to get to the bottom of this so will someone PLEASE HELP!

Anyone who owned a modded DSM(eclipse)knows what i'm talking about!

Where is RX-Kevin on this one? Isn't he supposed to be a Mazda Tech?

force fed I know exactly what you mean I noticed it at the track and just sitting at a light. you mean if you depress the clutch all of the way and then just drop it it kinda pauses (almost feels like it grabs sooner then normal. I am going to check the manuals to tell you if mazda even said anything about this. Awesome discovery Force

Yes you are correct there is 4 extra parts in the mastercylinder that are for the turbocharged model only. good look force fed
It's called a one-way valve piston

i feel you man, when i test drove the mazdaspeed i missed second gear because of it!! i didnt know why but now it all makes sence.

So how do you take them out?

never been into a new master cylinder but by the looks of it you just remove the hard line at the MS (coming out the right side)
and there should be a joint bolt, gasket, one way valve piston, then the spring. so I guess the spring will eject the parts that slows the fluid speed?

I wouldn't go prying into the Master Cylinder and removing any check valves anytime soon. Just because you can shift faster doesn't mean you should. Blowing up 2nd gear to get .05 or less of a gain isn't worth the pain!

It's cheap enough just to get a CMC from a P5 or an ES and just swap it out to see if it makes a difference. The harderst part is bleeding the air out of the line, which isn't hard at all if you have a MitiVac or 2 people and some tubing. The job shouldn't take longer than an hour tops.

Maybe....

Why would the factory put something in that causes more problems, such as grinding the crap out of second gear? I know I've done it twice myself, so I know what you guys are talking about. But I've dumped the clutch a couple of times, and didn't notice any hesitation in the clutch catching.

Is anyone sure that's what the extra parts are for? Are you sure they wheren't put in to increase hydralic pressure? We do have a heavy duty clutch, so maybe they put something in to increase the pressure so it doesn't take so much force to push in the clutch. Just a guess.

Yeah that's a possibility, but knowing Mazda they probably would decrease the pressure, so people aren't frying CV axles and the clutch engages smoother. Depending how much stronger the MSP clutch is, Mazda may have tuned it down to be more bearable for "average" drivers who aren't used to a more agressive clutch.

while we are talkin trannies. Mine i have to hesitate sometimes before engaging it into gear ior it wont let me in gear. (i have an MP3) so mine doesnt have this valve. Does anyone know why. I even have redline mt-90 in there also, but it still does this.
