MS6 AWD override?

it's the US Evo VIII since 2005 (When the MR edition was released), all 2005 Evo's have the ACD Tarmac gravel snow switch on the dash, (Worldwide since VII) the STi has the DCCD on the center consul near the hand brake, where there is a dimmer type selector.

check this out, its for vw/ audi but i hear the haldex systems on these cars is quite stout hpa motorsports offers 500+ hp twin turbo kits for these cars and the drivetrain seems to take it just fine

its not so much the haldex system i'm worried about, but the mounts/brackets holding the drivetrain in place. and also the rear diff after extended periods of high power, gets hot like the devil (laugh) (yes)

so ok a buddy of mine has a Pontiac GTP and its very well modded and he has to keep his transmission cool to run the car, they make transmission coolers for his car to keep it cool...its sorta like an oil cooler... im thinking maybe thats what we need to keep that differential cool.. and better mounts would help too.. just a thought.

Prblem being there is no "PUMP" inside the diff to circulate the oil to a cooler.

i believe that would be awesome! if we had strong enough mounts, and could keep it cool..it may be a strong durable differential after all.
this was actually mentioned by someone a while back, they were fabbing up a custom diff cooler of their own..the thread is lost to me :) but a diff cooler kit would be great!

maybe we could have ken look into this.. in the meantime ill be fabing up my own.. but it would be cool if he could come out with a kit...ill send him a pm

A nice oil cooler would be sweet. I wonder if it would be cheaper and just as good to go with a bigger diff cover so we can put more fluid in it. They do that with the 240sx/300zx r200 rear ends.

Looking for Advice

Can anyone please point me in the right direction and let me know where I can find an AWD trans for my protege 97? Actually if you could also suggest a good engine that will work with it I would appreciate it.

I was trying to decide between but a 1.8L and replacing pistons, connecting rods, and crankshaft (all forged). or if someone knows where I could find an engine that could out perform that one.

The craze for protege's in Puerto Rico is low despite the fact I see 3 of them everywhere I go. I want to show people here that these protege's are more that just a family 4 door sedan.

well an oil cooler from autozone costs $25 and then u have to run the lines and buy the pump thatll keep enough fluid going in and out of the differentail so u never run out of fluid.. but thats going to my test cooler then and if it works and actually improves the temperature inside the differential i will buy a better oil cooler.. still not sure where im going to mount it though? its tuff with a front mount in the way.. but im thinking somehwere in the rear of the car.. ill post updates.

ok i unplugged those wires from that black box and had my 1 minute of fun with it in FWD.. might i say holy crap. so much tire spin and torque steer.. will it ruin the car.. i dont think it did, maybe if u kept it like that and overtime it might but for just that 1 minute no way.. it felt so different i kinda liked it i wish we could keep it in FWD sometimes so i could show off..haha.. im interested in the dyno numbers so please post them or maybe ill do it who knows..

thats the mount were talking about trying to cool it down somehow cuz it gets way too hot... but a mount would certainly help... i dunno about SU though..kinda dont like them after all thats happened in regards to Ken at PG.

A good first step would be to change out the differential fluid with some good synthetic 75W-90. Redline and Amsoil are great choices...

that sounds fun and all with only FWD but i doubt it is anywhere near as quick...i mean thats what sold me on the car, AWD...i agree about the toggle though, i'd like to be able to have the option of my power difference

no this is radical!! if you are planning on just racing from rolls for a while, then do this! just disconnect the harness, and your 4WD light will come on along with your traction light. just to let you know you're only FWD. but wow, it pulls so strong. freeway races are badass haha. of course from a dig, you will spin well into third without trying ;/

Wow, does sound kinda fun...i don't think i would do it for very long tho, guess if people have done dyno pulls like this so it can handle it, I'd just say be careful
