MS3 vs. MS6

Yeah I was thinking about riding with him on March 15th at Six Flags. So if any of guys are there I would love to meet you.

I'm guessing all of us who just jacked your thread for a couple of pages discussing race tires will be there. :p

Yeah I wish I could discuss racing tires with you guys, but I will probably not be racing it so I don't need those.

Yeah, it's not really suited to autocross anyway. Autocross tends to favor lighter cars, and the MS6 is not that. Not that you wouldn't have a ton of fun with it out there anyway...

Oh yeah does anyone here autocross their cars? One of my friends auto-x and he said there was a speed 6 and speed 3 that auto-x also. I was hoping to ride along with him this year and I would love to see a mazda beat his STI.

I do. It is heavy but helluva lota fun! Yeah agree need new tires to compete. You'll get schooled first year by mp5s and beat by ms3s. though the one ms3 I raced was pretty comparable. Get Kumho mxts 225s. But learning how to autox is most important thing. Think about suspension work (sway bar, koni's, and cambers) after year or two. It is more about driving than car. People think they should walk in and roast people. Let me put it this way. One the most consistantly beat wrx's in the stx class was a monte carlo. it should be not have been competition for the wrx boys, but he beat them by skill. Oh but do get the Rear differential brace bushings because our ms6 have a tendency to damage our differentials by running it hard, plus rides a lot smoother.

I got a speed6 and I'm 16.. I do think it is a little quick for a new driver but just don't have a lead foot and your good.. I don't drive like a nut..pass ppl on double yellow blind spot roads (I ******* SAW A LINCOLN SEDAN DO IT ON 120 BOLES RD+BELL RD PASSES ME ON A BLIND CORNER GOING FASTER THAN 70... WTF..THE ROADS ARE SO NARROW...OMG)
anyways.. yeah.. just don't drive like a nut.. I guess I do drive faster than people but not fast.. like cruising 73 in a 55 zone slowly passing other cars.. and when i'm bored I floor it.. I have about 2000 miles on it and no problems other than the usual.. stuttering..engine flying around..uneven tire wear.. I did complain about my differentials making a whining noise.. they replaced it and it is better.. I only got random mods nothing to do with engine until I run or don't run into problems.. haha.. keep the warranty good. I like sedans.. don't like the hatchback look too much.. really fun to drive!

This post made me somewhat nauseous. Talk about stream of conciousness.

For those of you who follow NHRA even remotely the kids who were killed were Doug Herbert's kids he owns a very very well known racing shop in NC and race NHRA top fuel dragster.

That's a tragedy, sorry to hear it happened.

On a side note, when my kids were getting close to driving age, I started them driving karts on an outdoor track. My son was racing 125cc shifter karts a year before he got his license. When he went through the Master Drive course, he didn't have any problems with the car control exercises. The biggest transition for him was backing off cars in front of him. He was used to being 6" behind the guy in front going down the straight. His early kart experience has paid off - he's now the SCCA solo national champion in B Modified.

I highly recommend that parents get their kids some track time before cutting them loose in a car. They'll gain respect for speed, and it just may save their lives.

Do you plan on being at the March 15th event at Six Flags?

No, I will be in florida watching the sebring 12 hour race that weekend. Autocrossing will also be a good place to learn the limits of your car in a safe environment. Congrats and good choice ms6 is the better car. We all know it even if the ms3 guys can't admit it :D.

Thanks man, that stinks that you will be in Florida. Well at least for me. I was hopeing to see some mazdaspeed 6 guys there. Now I just have to take off of work so that I can go.
