MS3 vs. MS6

No it was dark when I got her and we have had cruddy weather since then, but if the weather cooperates I hope to have some pictures posted.

Oh yeah does anyone here autocross their cars? One of my friends auto-x and he said there was a speed 6 and speed 3 that auto-x also. I was hoping to ride along with him this year and I would love to see a mazda beat his STI.

There was a dark MS6 at Points 1 and Kosh here on the forums crosses MS3. Yeah pretty much most of us here in the GA section autox. We vary from P5s to MSPs to Miatas and more. It's tough, STi can put down some mean times. You want to go for a fun ride catch one in a Miata.

I beat the ms6 at points 1 too! Well he did DNF every run but a win is a win (headbang)

Got my ass handed to me by the sti. Over 10 seconds I think. Need to get off stock tires.

(mswerd) 1.6L of naturally aspirated fury, and more grip than you can shake a stick at. And I'm on street tires. Now Kevin's CSP car... that thing's ridiculous :D

I thought you have some wheels / tires to use now? Get some azenis / RE-01Rs / and if you're really feeling spendy, the ADVAN Neova AD07 is faster than both of those.

Got wheels need tires. I'm thinking of going RE-01R based on Ruke and your suggestions. They seem to fit in my price range.

If you're going into debt for them, I'd go for the RT-615s. They're a good bit cheaper I think, and the difference isn't all that huge.

The price of RE-01Rs is on par with R-comps.

Which R-comps are you looking at!?

195/50/15 Bridgestone RE-01R - $106.00
205/50ZR15 Kumho V710 - $184.00
205/50ZR15 Hoosier A6 - $203.00

I've driven on both the RT-615s (shaved to 4/32 and full tread) and the RE-01Rs (full tread). There's significant difference between the 2.

Not deep debt, just don't want to wait till the end of the month to get tires if there are 2 events this month. (doughpoke

The wheels are 17/7 +40. Ruke was saying 225/45/17 would be the biggest I could fit on there. Wanted to double check before I spend the money that those will fit.

Sorry for the thread jack (not really)

Well, if you want to get technical, you could probably fit MUCH wider tires on there. What's the STU limit for 2wd? 245? 265? I don't see why you couldn't get at least a 245 onto a 7" wheel if you really wanted to.

no wheel restriction, max tire is 275 for 2wd vehicles, 245 for AWD

EDIT: Always always always check the tire specs. Just because it says 225 doesn't mean it's exactly 225 (or really any where close). See the 195 RE01R that's as wide as my 205 Azenis which were almost as wide as my 225 Hankooks, all on the same wheel.

First off check the specs page for the RE01R on TireRack.com.

That will tell you EXACTLY what tire will fit on what size rim.

Do your own research and don't listen to people who are talking out their ass.

well... you can stretch those rules a little. See runing 225 wide R-comps on a 5.5" miata wheel lol
