MS3 vs. 2008 Dodge Caliber SRT-4

anyways... do you all think that dodge will stay in the price range they've talked about for the SRT-4 once released? Is this set in stone anywhere? I'm not sure how dodge is about keeping true to their word on price, but I figure its going to be a scenario like the MS3, dealerships easily taking at sticker and above.

(i haven't read this entire thread from the beginnnig, so if I missed this already, let me know)

That will largely depend on its availability and whether people actually buy them or not, but initially I bet you're correct about the dealerships trying to hike the prices.

Made some amendments. And you forgot these guys

Evo Owners = Almost worse than Civic SI owners except their cars are actually fast. Tend to have inflated egos although there are a lot of nice and very knowledgeable Evo guys out there. To tick them off, talk about STi guys

MSP Owners = Best guys/gals EVAR! Most loveable, honorable bunch of guys of people you'd ever hope to share a forum with. And I'm not just saying this beacause I'm a fellow mazda owner (peep). To tick them off mention zoom zoom boom!

And I woul be remiss not to mention us P5 guys: We don't really talk much because or cars are slow (with some very very fast exceptions) but we take solace in knowing we drive the best looking mazdas around and that all our fellow forum members are jealous of our wagons hawtness. To tick us of mention that 99% of cars on the road including that dodge grand caravan in the left lane are faster than we are.(braindead

(lol) I actually LOL'd. P5 owners FTW.

Seriously peoples, how can we be having "heated" discussions comparing an existing car with one that NO ONE HAS EVER DRIVEN... This thread will be a moot point after the two cars drag race and all the cupholders are counted.

MS6 Owners = Also a nice group of guys. Have a love for AWD thus their choice in rides but tend to be far more mature than their EVO and STi bretheren. They also tend to be very cautious about modding their cars and they are erlativly new and some of them are putting down big numbers. To tick them off, mention leaky turbo seals and white smoke from the tailpipes.

Anyone got some of their own.

i raced a m3 and stayed next to him two times that we raced off a roll...i was stock at the time....sl500 runs slower quarter mile than ms3 and i could see a well driven ms3 beating a sl500 off a roll only by a little

Time for me to post this again:

mmmmmmm curves :)

So far at work I have seen 2 calibers, 1 HHR and 0 mazda 3's out the window :(

Well atleast the MS3 is a rarer car then I'm sure this caliber is going to be. Everytime I drive around my town I always see at least one SRT4 driving around because it's cheap money for high performance, samething the caliber is going to end up being. There has been one other mazdaspeed 3 around here and I know the kid personally. MS3 to SRT4 Ratio 2/38 (notcool).

As for Specs:
Horsepower : 300 hp @ 6000 rpm
Torque : 260 lb-ft @ 2000 rpm
Redline : 6400 rpm

Top speed : 150 mph(estimated)
0-60 mph : 5.5 sec.
0- mile : 14.0 sec @ 105.0 mph(estimated)
60-0 braking distance : 120 ft(estimated)
200 ft skidpad : 0.88 g(estimated)

Curb Weight : 3200 lbs(estimated)
Overall length : 173.8 in.
Wheelbase : 103.7 in.
Overall Width : 68.8 in.
Height : 59.9 in.

Staples187, your specs are incorrect. What you posted are the original "estimated" specs when Dodge decided to mention they will build the SRT-4 Caliber. The lastest posted specs by Dodge are HP = 280 and Torque 260.

Regardless, with the SRT-4 Caliber having only 17HP more than the MS3 and having 20 less ft/lbs of torque than the MS3, it will be interesting considering they both have throttle controlled boost etc.

Remember we are talking about an SL500 AMG not regular SL500. Do you have the numbers to prove that?

this one runs high 14's

Wow that AMG SL55 is torque retarded... 516Nm is 380 lb-ft :)

RX-8 FE, either clueless or cool- These guys come in two types those that thought the RX-8 looks cool and bought just because it's a sports car, they don't know anything about rotary engines and they soon run the engine out of oil. Then their are the cool guys, who always wanted an RX-7 but needed something practical, or wanted something that handled very well, was quick, had a couple of backs seats, and LOVES the sounds of rotary at 9,000 rpms. To piss these guys off say oil pcm recall, as them about torque works well, as does mentioning the 350z.

Meh, not so much for me...Guess perhaps I'm knowledgeable and happy with my purchase...I did however do my homework ahead of time...I also did not want to be under my car more often then I was driving it like the old skewl rotards...haa haa

;)

Ugly, and also ugly. Just think how much it is going to wiegh..... Fast I really dont think it will be a factor. Sorry..... GO MS3
