MS3 versus MS6

MS3 - sport
I am not sure if this has already come up...but has anyone compared both cars?

From a purely 0-60 standpoint, the MS3 is rated a little better than the MS6. Despite the AWD and 11 more horses, the extra 400 pounds on the MS6 gives the MS3 the edge. (As long as you learn how to launch it!)

Anyone have any experience with both?

They're pretty close but the MS3 pulls harder on the MS6 due to weight.

from a dig the MS6 will win, believe me...the magazines were launching the car at 4k...do it a between 4.8k-5.5k and you can get a 5.3-5.4 on the 0-60.

from a roll, the MS3 probably has it.

Nope, I'll still win :p

Modified big turbo beast MS6s dont count, for sure youd whoop all of us at this point in time 4drhotrod, but i think he means stock for stock LOL. Good to see your still runnin strong.

Jay (jbiird317) and I headed up to PA for the MTMA meet...

I was in an MS6 and he had his MS3. We messed around (nothing serious) on 95 and the MS3 didnt pull but like inches/feet away from me... they were nearly Identical.

again its not like we were in a controlled environment so take what we experienced however you want. (we also werent seriously racing, just keeping up with one another when we would speed up).

Yes...I did mean a stock version...I have seen heavily modified Civics that would beat stock ZO6 Corvettes, so let's compare apples to apples....

I drove both and the 6 did NOTHING for me. It was such a bland, heavy car and I had no desire to buy it even at the heavily discounted prices. Not so with the MS3. Loved it right away. The thing is, they're completely differnet cars in almost every way: AWD vs FWD, sedan vs hatch, etc.

this is true.... there were very few instances where i think either of us pushed it to the max, we took turns leading and following. At some points i felt that I pulled away slightly, but not more than a few feet extra here and there.... Overall at highway speeds they were very comparable

5.5k clutch drop? o_O I hope you don't do it often unless you have a money tree growing in the back yard to to cover the cost of clutch replacement every month. ^_^;;

Sure they're totally different cars, but I'd guess the car to come out on top would have more to do with the type of race than anything else.

I don't see how a FWD drive could possibly beat an AWD in the twisties all things being as similar as they are.

I have a money plant growing up in my basement!

jk, i dont do the jane.

As far as for 5.5K clutch SLIPS, they can be done on AWD. Clutch drops wont work on AWDs, and its really bad for AWD launches since they are usually at high revs and all it does is just smack the clutch since all 4 wheels wont spin.

i dont think i have ever really taken the clutch out on 5.5k...i kick the rpms between 4.8 and 5.5, so its really more of a 5.1k-5.3k clutch slip. I dont do it often though, i can probably count the number of times i have done it with my two hands ( i would say one but i had a few encounters recently :) )

The MS3 will come on top on a roll on. With all honesty, the FWD tranny is just made for daily driving, not much left for autox or drag strips.

But they're not. The 6 is heavier and it's well documented that it understeers pretty badly when pushed hard. It ain't an Evo.

From the dig to the 1/8th MS6
From the dig to the 1/4 Depends on driver.
From the dig to the 120 mark, MS3.
From a roll anything above 20 mph, MS3 wins

Weight hurts the MS6 and AWD is only good for launching. as for the twisty's i don't think the MS6 handles as well as the MS3, its just to heavy. Still like the 6, but bought a 3 instead.

I can vouch for that. I drove an MS6 at a Mazda Rev it up event and I thought I was going to roll the damn thing. Much prefer the MS3
