MS3 Retrofitting...

Is retrofitting necessary for converting a sport MS3 to HIDs? Or is the plug-n-play good enough? I've read that retrofitting should be done if at all possible, due to non-HID projector problems. Are the MS3 sport's projectors good enough?

I have also read of issues with flickering, complete shut offs, fuse blowing, etc. Are these problems "far and wide" or is it just what happens with HID conversions?

while the halogen projectors aren't fantastic for HID's they're certainly okay. You won't get quite the beam spread, the cutoff will be less precise, and it might look a little blotchy instead of an even dispersion.

As for blowing fuses..... that sounds more like people who are hooking things up incorrectly, or buying cheap kits.
