MS3 "real" performance specs

I keep seeing estimates for 0-62 times for the MS3 at about 6.1 seconds. To me this seems a little conservative. I know they're talking 0-62 and not 0-60 so take off a tenth of a second or two and you've got the 0-60 estimate. But even if this car does a 5.9 sprint to 60 that still seems a bit conservative. I mean we're talking 250 plus horsepower and 280 ft lbs. Even if the car is not AWD it should be able to get their in around 5.5 or maybe even a little below. To put things into perspective my father had a '87 vette which was stock and did 5.8 seconds to 60 with only 240 horse and a similar torque number. I'm guessing this car should be slightly quicker than the outgoing SRT-4, which in it's first year (without the limited slip) did 0-60 runs around 5.4 and 5.5 seconds. Mazda's new lsd will hopefully not be a dissapointment and will achieve remarkable 0-60 and quarter mile times. Let me know what you thing??(ughdance)

I remember someone posting that the Mazdaspeed6 had a conservative 0-60 number posted by Mazda, but it's actual 0-60 was a bit faster.

for a fwd car i'd guess that's pretty accurate to 60, traction is a b****. if it had those power numbers in rwd you could expect better times, but i don't think 5.9-6.0 is high for a fwd relatively large car on who knows what tires

I think the hiboost 3 was getting close to those numbers with about 250whp, but I can't remember. You would think the lsd and stiffer suspension would improve upon those times.

I agree. All I think about is getting the MS3. I hope it is under 25k.

Just recently read in Motor Trend (i think) that the MS3 was going to begin at 25000.. i really really hope they are wrong! and yeah im in agreeance with the rest of you on 0-60 times.. should be lower than 6.1.. but lets not forget.. no one has gotten their hands on one yet to actually test drive it and see what the real numbers are for it.. at least i dont think anyone has.....
