MS3 Racing Beat Exhaust Review

It keeps getting louder the more I drive it. Today I have a 200 mile drive back to school, that will really open up the sound. Next weekend I am running it at the track, so I am excited to see how it performs. I can definately tell a difference in performance. But I think I might still cut off the smaller resonator to get some more volume. I like me some noise :)

I found it quieter than stock. I'd like a little more noise as well. I was considering getting the smaller resonator cut as well. Let us know how that works out for you!

instead of doing that dale, I'd get a test pipe. Oh and I drove the car more today, the exhaust is really starting to open up. When I push down on the gas and approach around 4k rpms, it starts getting that WRX burble to it, damn it sounds amazing. I might not have to remove the resonator after all. I only have between 60-70 miles on it so far, so its only going to get louder. I am VERY happy with this setup and I recommend everyone to go with this exhaust if they want a toned down but aggressive exhaust setup.

Yea the sound it makes is very very nice. When I have the windows down, I'm almost in heaven! My only worry about a test pipe would be potential smoking issues from freeing up all that backpressure and letting the turbo spool quicker.

I'm interested to see how you feel about the sound after a few more hundred miles. Mine's been on for about 1000+, and sometimes I wish it was louder. Maybe I should just get electronic valve controlled cutouts... lol.

Nah you won't have smoking issues from putting a test pipe on. Hell I put a full catless downpipe on and I don't have smoking issues other than the packing burning off from the new exhaust. The test pipe is for sound purposes ONLY.

Well I installed my Racing Beat exhaust today. Did it by myself, so it definitely didn't take 1.5 hours, more like half a day! I do agree with the OP about the location of the clamp, you really have to squeeze in there to tighten things up. And the instructions seem to say to tighten to about 25 ft lbs, but it looked like the nut was eating into the metal.

Installation was fairly straightforward, the only puzzle was whether or not to push the tailpipe all the way in into the muffler section, since doing that was distorting the tailpipe rubberhanger inward a bit, but to me the more metal there is overlapping, the better it is, so I left the rubber hanger distorted a bit. I also sprayed some spray-on copper gasket sealant on the connectors and flanges, just as insurance against leaks.

Exhaust sounds great, my goal was go get rid of the off-throttle drone, and it's mission accomplished, while having a nice deep exhaust note. I do get a clunk while going over some bigger bumps, probably will have to do some small readjustments, but overall this is a great exhaust.

Does anyone else's racing beat CBE make a lot of "settling" noises after shutting off the engine after a moderate drive?

explain what you're talking about? All i know is since I've put this exhaust on, its opened up alot and DAMN it sounds amazing with a catless downpipe. Its so deep and has that toned down wrx gurgle to it. almost no noise inside, but once the windows are down, hellllloooo exhaust. Love it.

When I kill the car, it makes very faint metallic dripping or pinging sounds for a few minutes (almost like the side of the exhaust is being tapped with a screwdriver very slightly). I got under the car and identified it as coming from the large muffler section of the exhaust. It could just be metal expanding/contracting while the exhaust breaks in. I don't think it's doing any harm, so I'm not too worried about it.
