MS3 Quirks

you ppl with your loving of the auto wipers...i would gladly get rid of them for some manual intermittent setting ones. for one thing i would have to watch them struggle to think about what rate they would want to wipe, and secondly to replace the widnshield is like 200 extra bucks cuz of the special little tinted part of the glass and the extra time it takes to put everything back together. and for some reason i love going through windshields (i can count at least 5 in my 9 years of driving)

oh and plus sleventyfafillion on the glove box being so large. i think its actually bigger than my old miata's trunk was

My gripes after 20,000 miles of ownership:

-2nd gear is really grabby.
-Misc. creaks and squeaks appear randomly while driving, and will go away randomly.
-The a/c is kind of weird. You can't have it off and in the defrost position. You can't just turn it on w/o turning it on "Auto" thus it blowing at MAX speed until you quickly turn down the fan speed. Also, a/c isn't as cold as previous cars I've owned.

Other than that, I have no complaints.

Instead of pressing AUTO, just turn the left knob/little wheel clockwise.

Does that work even with everything off? Usually when I'm just crusing around, I have the air off and in the defrost/feet position. So then when I want a little on the face, I hit the face position and it'll turn onto AUTO and blow like there's a fire in my car it's trying to put out.

I know what you mean. Press 'face' position, then when it starts blowing like crazy click A/C OFF, then turn the left ac wheel clockwise. Basicly you set the direction first and then power. Once the direction is set it's pretty much always set, you just adjust the strength of it, that's all.

Yeah, but that doesn't help my problem. I want to be able to press the "face" position and it not blow like crazy. I'll set the fan speed Mazda thank you very much.

I usually just turn the fan up to one or two notches on whatever position i want the ac to come out, usually face.... then get this... I hit the "A/C" button on the bottom left. I know what your thinking... your thinking "WHOA BACK THE **** UP! That just BLEW MY ******* MIND". I know its pretty intense, but it works.
The auto will calm down too once the car cools to whatever temp you have it set to. I set mine to 68-72 and that keeps things nice and comfortable without everything sounding like its in a wind tunnel.

my quirks:
- dash rattle
- Wind noise from the windows
- black tailpipe, thankfully an aftermarket CBE dosent hold the soot as much
- brake dust is horrible
- 2nd gear is notchy, even with a STS, MT-90, and heavier nob
- paint is so thin a fingernail can scratch it off

the rattle n wind noise ive just been to lazt to bring in and get fixed/work on myself.

Major quirk is when gas peddle is depressed fully for long periods of time the gas gauge tends to unexplainable drop rapidly!

Man, I was misreading what you were saying. So I tested it out today in my car and it works perfectly. Now if I want just a small flow of air, I know what to do. Thanks, lol.

I suspect that if you run one into a tree, it'll stop rapidly. If that ain't a quirk...

Now here I was thinking that I am the only person who finds 2nd gear to be ugly.

oh no, plenty of ppl find 1-2 to be a Cap'n Crunch shift. Some say they have no problems, & good for them, but others [like me] have tried anything & everything under the sun and still have to concentrate on every shift. although it seems that it's getting better as the miles accumulate.....please please please (bowdown)
