MS3 Open DP

How bad would it sound just to run like a 3'' open dp on a ms3? I'm more after performance anyway so not really overly worried about it but thought I would get opinions on the thought before getting hasty and not just waiting on a tbe.

I compare the MS3 exhaust note to the exhaust on my recent MSP. On the MSP I ran a 3" DP-back custom exhaust with a single hi-flow cat and a Magnaflow deep-sounding muffler with 4" tip. From the outside, the stock MS3 exhaust sounds the same, with the same volume as the exhaust on the MSP. From the inside, however, the MS3 exhaust is quite a bit quieter as the MSP exhaust was unbearably loud in the backseat for any period of time, and a bit much to handle in the frontseat on extended highway trips.

To answer your question, I think that it would be as loud as hell since the exhaust is already noticeably louder than your average exhaust. Whether or not it would be bearable from within the car is hard to say as I think that the MS3 is much better sound-insulated than was the MSP.

Has anyone tried it yet, so long as the gains were there and it didn't rattle my teeth out with vibrations it would be O.K. Just want to hear a little feedback on it before I go do it.

Ask MS6Freek, also known as P5Freek. He installed a cut-out on his MS6. The exhaust note on the MS6 is not as loud as the MS3, but he should be able to give you some idea of home loud you should expect it to be.

well if you take it off at the downpipe it'll probably be loud, not loud as hell, but most likely unbearable, say, on the highway. it'll drone like a bastard thats for sure. if you do it, post up a sound clip. i'd like to hear it lol. i'd only recommend doing it for a track day.

I'll probly do it this weekend just for kicks, since I'm off and have time. It's not like it's unreversable, if it sucks I'll just let it cool down and re-hang everything.
