Can I just use a 1/8" cable to connect my Ipod to the jack in my MS3 and plug it in to my headphone jack? If not what do I need?

yep, but if you are charging the ipod at the same time you will hear the alternater whine. You will need a ground loop isolator to get rid of the whine, you can get one for $20 at crutchfield.

I tried itout last night and the music only played on the left side of my car. It only plays on the left when the ipod ius playing. Maybe my cable is screwed. I will pick up another on today nad try it out.

The cable isn't screwed. Just try pulling the plug slightly out of the jack in the console. This happened with our brand new cable when we first put it in. However, after playing around with the plug a bit I was able to find a position (not all the way in) that allowed you to hear both the right and the left channels properly.

I went to radio shack and picked up another 1/8" audio cable and it works perfect. My other cable wasnt working properly.

I would imagine that the cable would fall out then. Why does this jack do that?

The plug wasn't pulled out substantially...just a small portion of its length. Since it worked after I did this AND it was a new cord I figured that it was possible to seat the plug too far.

Glad that you found a cable that worked.

make sure you are using a stereo plug and not a mono. you can tell because stereo has two grooves instead of one.
