MS3 - Brakes Sticking?

2008 Mazdaspeed3
Okay. I just got my Mazdaspeed3 a week ago and I had a question for those who have owned the car longer. Over the weekend, I found that my brakes would sometimes stick to the rotor and upon accelerating from a stop, will proceed to make an intermittent noise from the rubbing until about 20 mph. Its kind of like a "humm - squeak", that being the only way I can describe the sound it makes. It did this the rest of my ride which was only about 15 minutes. I couldn't hear the sound when moving over 20mph and once I turned off the car and let it sit, it did not happen the next time. Now that I look to hear the sound, I think it might have happened again since but not positive. Anyways, I think I am just paranoid but it has happened one other instance when I test drove an 07 MS3 about a month back. Just wanting an overall opinion from others.

Oh yeah, the sound appears to be coming from the passenger front but I can't be positive because I was driving and not outside the car.

hrrm...do you see a noticeable slowing due to braking? if not, then it sounds like your brake pads aren't perfectly worn in just yet. if that's the case, a good stomp or two on the brake from 60mph should do the trick...either that or simply riding around at 25mph with the brakes partially depressed for a block or two. it seems like shotty construction, though, to have brake squeaking on a new car, so i would have mazda take a look at that if it doesn't go away quickly.

Would be weird if a caliper locked up already, and it doesn't sound quite bad enough to be that....

Constant pad contact with rotor = bad bad bad news though, as it may result in enough heat transfer to boil your brake fluid, causing the fluid to be compressable causing you to not stop when you hit the pedal. Probably best off taking it back to the dealer and having them look at it. You're under warranty anyway.

Hmm.....I like imaging the worst thing possible! Thanks! Haha, kidding. But seriously, I know where you are coming from because brakes are nothing to mess around with. But I am not too worried as of yet. So far its only done it noticeably, one time in my car but the only reason I question it was because the 2007 MS3 Sport I drove did the same thing on the way back to the dealer.

I still have under 500 miles but if the problem persists then I will surely take it by the dealer. Anyone else had this issue?

I've had my car for a few months and 1500 miles. Today I get home from work and park it in the garage, I get out and smoke is just pouring out of the drivers side rear wheel. It smelled horrible. It wasn't happening from any of the other wheels. I didn't notice any noise or smell or draggin while driving. After a few minutes, it gradually stops. I wait a half hour or so, jack it up and remove the wheel. I inspect the brakes, lines, and rotors and don't notice anything out of the ordinary. I took it for a ride and no problems during or after. Don't know what it was. Hope it doesn't happen again. I guess the rear brake must have stuck or jammed.

Hmm, it seems that I am not the only one having some brake issues with the MS3. Yesterday, when I got home, I noticed some noise coming from the same passenger front pad. When I press down the petal to brake, I could hear the contact of the pad and the rotor. Now, this could have been something else but every time I pressed the pedal, I would hear the noise.

Yet, this morning on the way to work I did not hear the noise at all. Its not smoking yet, if it ever does I am taking it to the dealership right away.
