MS3 Bike rack question.

Do you want the lower brace resting against your tailgate?

FWIW I'm not a fan of bike racks. I used to use an Yakima roof rack but got tired of a) the wind noise and reduced gas mileage and b) taking it on and off because of (a).

I discovered that I could put 2 bicycles in my Camry easily, and 3 if I worked a little. The 3 ought to have as much capacity if not more.

Ya, but what about those of us with filthy'd up bikes? I would never put my dirty ass bike in my Speed. I am also looking for a rack.

I have a roll of that stiffer plastic stuff cut to the size of my interior. Keep it in with my spare and use when needed.

Ya, I am just **VERY** anal about how clean my interior is. I use Swiffer dusters on it weekly along with vacuuming. I just like the idea of keeping the dirty bike on a rack out side the car. As long as it isn't something that is going to scratch the dang hatch door. My uncle has an 05 regular 3 and he has a rack that fits real nice but his 3 is a trunk not a hatch.

In case anyone is interested... I'm selling a brand new Thule Freeway 960 - $55 tyd.

The main reason (besides handling and turbo of course) I bought a MS3 was because it'll fit bikes in the back. It's much better to have the bike(s) enclosed and safe than on the outside of the car.

I throw an old sheet and some towels in the back and put the bike on them.

Andrade08 - the Thule rack was delivered this morning.

LOL!! Yup..........And I already used it. Fits perfect and my bike fit good also.

For those looking........the *Thule* freeway bike rack pictured above works great on the Speed3.

Right on! That was one of my convincing points to my fiancee for the speed purchase. The only reason I would ever get a bike rack would be if I went on vacation and needed room in the trunk for luggage. Even then I might figure a way around it.

I just bought a new road bike and it fits ever so nicely in the back. The trunk is meant to get dirty and if it doesn't you aren't using it right. I've had my speed since April and I have already used the fold down seats in 5 different occasions. This car rocks!

hi everyone..first time posting so I hope this thread is still alive. I'm looking for a bike rack for my 07 Mazda3 (4dr). I'm hoping to go bike trailing often with my gf and would need to fit two bikes. Although I can remove my wheel, that can't be done for the other one. Any suggestions? I understand that it's a pain to put on / take off. I'm looking for an inexpensive roof rack.

Do you mind posting all the part numbers that make up that rack? How much did that set you back? The snow is coming soon, and I'm anxious to put a rack on top of my car.

Bike Rack - Works great

I have a small diameter hitch attached to the frame under the Speed3. You can hardly even see the receiver. When i travel with the wife and 2 of the kids we need the storage space in the trunk and back seat. i have a very light weight 3 bike rack that slips neatly into the receiver and works great. No dirt in the car. It will tilt down if I want to open the rear gate.
