MS3: 17 x 8.5, +42 and 235x40x17... Now this is WIDE... :)

sorry for (jacked)

Wheels look good and its awesome to see this fitment without any clearance problems. This will change my perception of what will and will not fit on the MS3.

No thread jack going on here. Your conversation has to do with the same topic at hand. A wheel fitment on our vehicle that most thought would not work. It opens up debate on how far you can take wheel fitments on the specified vehicle. Don't open up new posts unless its a totaly different topic. If i were the originator of this post i would be happy for the free Bump! As long as its not completely off topic.

......Thankyou very much.......(blah)

The various other posts seem to suggest a 245/40-18 tire is going to be rubbing..235/40-18 being the biggest tire even on a stock suspension without fender rolling. A 245/45-17 should rub for the same reason since it is about the same size.

It's not as "simple as you say"... A 17" wheel has about 1.2" less diameter than a 18" wheel therefore more clearance between tire and fender. If the offset is high ~ 50 then a 245 will be doable w/o rubbing.

I didn't want to go any higher in both width and rim diameter, due to my offset (+42).

I wouldn't go with an 18" with a 245 tire size especially if the offset is not as close as to stock.

I found this tool that is extremely helpful:

looks good! I went with a 17x8 et48 Rota Boost for my track set, I think my rota's are copies of your SSR's.

For tires I'm using street rubber, Bridgestone RE01R's in 235/45-17. They fit perfectly fine on stock suspension of course. They worked well for me at the track so far, one event.

Looks GREAT indeed. Since you went with a taller rubber (45 vs 40) did you experience any rubbing with the fenders at higher speeds at the track?
