MS CAI or Cobb SRI

Yeah, it's easy to go back to stock.... sometimes ;) I really let the bug bite me, let's leave it at that.

if i had a cobb sri and the dealer tried to void my warranty... i'd slap the service managers face with my peter. haha.

I can't say how things are on the MS3 yet but I've had plenty of intake experience with my previous two GTP's and my GXP. Under-hood temps drop dramatically once you start rolling, even a little bit.

I would bounce back and forth between a CAI and a Short Pipe on my supercharged cars and the difference was minimal if any. Ran with both at the track and never felt nor saw a difference in performance.

I have a CAI on my GXP now and it's a Pain to remove, clean, etc....and while it roars nicely tucked in my fenderwell, it's not worth the trouble really.

I plan on doing a short ram style on the MS3 myself. Just my experience/opinion.

all i can say is 24 whp gain and 33 ftlbs gain over stock with SRi. Taks 15 minutes to uninstall. If you DO blow an engine and can't take 15 min to switch it to stock potentially saving 1000's - what can i say ?

The Cobb SRI is pretty low threat and easy to remove if you have to go in to get service done.

It's not hard to fight fire with fire with a dealer. You don't have to throw fists or threaten a law suit. Just tell them you're going to call your local newspaper and ask them to write a small article in the paper about shady practices at their local car dealer. That's all. You know how desperate reporters are to fill a paper. Then you'll plaster their ass all over the internet on sites like Dealerrater.com with bad reviews and complain to Mazda Corp until you're blue in the face. Threatening to get a lawyer and sue them does nothing for stopping other people from going there because noone knows about it except you and the dealer. You need to expose these douchebags to the world and if it stops even 2 people from going there for service, you've put a dent in their profits, which is what they're more concerned about. Trust me, the consumer has more power than they'd try to lead you to believe. You're the one giving them money. There's no reason for them to blatenly void your warranty and make outragious claims like that your aftermarket exhaust effected your transmission because this means you're driving the car harder. It's all heresay.

It's not hearsay. Mitsubishi voided the warranties of Evo owners that took their car to auto-xs or trackdays, regardless of modifications. Subaru voided transmission warranties regardless of modifications by claiming overly-hard use. I had my drivetrain warranty on my WRX voided because of aftermarket wheels.

You bet your sweet ass I complained. I bitched and moaned, posted on the boards, told them I would complain to anybody that would listen, and they didn't care. I had no recourse. And you say "You're the one giving them money." No your not! You're not giving them any money, that's the point! You are at theirmercy, not the other way around. They can cover you or not, it's up to them, not you.

I'm seriously tempted by the Cobb SRI provided I switch it out before every service. It's just a giant pain in the ass and I'm still paranoid they'll find out! :(

I have heard this from some pretty good sources. I know there was a class action law suit going on against Mitsubishi though and that they were honorring the warranty again. That was back in 05-06. Havent heard any bad mouthing since about them not honorring warrantys.
I am surprised to hear that about your and your WRX. I have heard nothing but praise about Subie and warrantys with mods. Quite the oposite to your experience.
I think we all know it can go either way. If your mods effect or are causing your problem you are in trouble for sure. Then I think it boils down to your dealerships standing on mods, whether they tolerate them or not. Finding out before hand is your best method. Ask teh right questions or be prepared to put your car back to stock before taking it in.
