Hey everyone I was wondering which intake do you think is the better buy? I'm new to owning a MS3 so I'm looking for a little help I tried searching but didn't find much.

Cobb Sri

Go w/ the COBB SRI, a lot of the MCAI owners a converting to the COBB SRI.
Its easy to install and you do not have to worry about sucking up water in to the engine when you go through a puddle.

Good luck!

I would go with the Cobb SRI for the reasons Mike already pointed out. Lol! I'm sure this is going to become another interesting thread :(

People are going to flame on each other and go back and forth, so here is my opinion:

Cobb SRI

Why? Well, WITHOUT getting into hydrolock (btw, I know people it's happened to) the Cobb is cheap, easy to install, just as easy to uninstall, easy to clean the filter, really adds power, and is a joy to listen to. If you add an Accessport later, Cobb has made maps specifically for their intake (for now).

Why not the CAI? Harder to install, harder to uninstall, harder to clean, more expensive, might throw a code because of a lean condition -> damage motor. That's not to say many people have had ZERO issues with the intake. Again, my opinion.

^^ Really is as easy as it looks!
Cobb ftw

I have a MS CAI and still a warrenty with it. So if I ever do suck up any water which I haven't and I've drove through some pretty deep puddles then I'm covered. It's all about what you are looking for. It's a pain though to clean the filter with the MS CAI. And I don't have to take the intake off every time I go to the dealership

AND just to add, you wont be able to get the MS CAI from any of the dealers and forum sponsor. Mazda has discontinued them. However you could probably find them used from whoever converted to a SRI OR the AEM intake looks pretty much the same as the MS. GL

Actually, hydrolock isn't covered. So if you do for some reason suck up any water you are screwed.

Screw that I will fight that. They installed it and if something like that happens then they better fix it. I'll ask the dealership about that. I'm pretty sure they would cover it

Bonafide Spd3 - You aren't going to like the answer.. Just stay out of deep puddles and such and you should be fine :)

+1...just had mine installed and i tell you COBB is the sounds awesome!!!! i love it!!!

We'll see, if they tell me that, I'll tell them to give me my money back. And I'll get online and order a cobb sri. And then go back to the dealership and drop kick them in the back of the head... lol

Ive read something about hydrolock not being covered either in the documents that you get with the intake itself. So you might wanna check or read everything you got with it. I have the cobb SRI and wouldnt change it for the world. Was extremely easy to install and uninstall if I had to. And cleaning the filter is crazy easy.

lmao... now that would just be really really funny to see. The drop kicking part that is. Hell Id give you back your money just because it was so damn funny.

Read the "fine print". Hydrolock and you're screwed. The dealer will tell you anything to make money and do anything to save money, including voiding your warranty.

I've had my Cobb SRI for a few weeks now and love it. I've had it on the car since it was a week old.

does the cobb perform as well as the MS CAI? I know when i put the MS CAI on my car it woke the **** up...how does the cobb compare? Accessport issues aside and all of that...which one performs better?
