Out of curiosity, what is the feasibility of using the MPI tuner for NA applications? I would think it would just work as is, but when thinking about it. I have a couple of questions.
From my understanding, the turbo module is basically a voltage clamp, right? So assuming that is correct, I know that the voltage clamp basically limits the first O2 senor signal so that the ECU doesn't see the overly rich conditions on a turbo vehicle 12.5:1, 12:1, 11.5:1 etc. If the ECU sees this in closed loop from the O2 sensor, it will pull fuel. Bad for a turbo setup. Hence the turbo module.
So wouldn't something be needed to make the MPI tuner work on an NA car then... like say a NA module? Basically, us NA people would want to lean out some insanely rich portions of the map. However, where are all of these insanely rich portions. Are they all in open loop? Or are they also at certain points in closed loop? So wouldn't the ECU see an overly-lean condition and try to add fuel in closed loop as well?
I'd love to know. I want to do some header/exhaust/cams work this summer, but the true gains would be seen by tuning the fuel and timing properly.
Thanks,
Chris
