MPI Tuner Anyone?

He's right...when i was messing with the tune..for the new t3..i noticed that as soon as i adjusted it to a lower number..the car was very lean at idel..and would pop..like backfire..

haven't got back to the car yet, tonight...i'll triple check my wiring and look for any vac leaks. i should probably remove the second o2 which is doing anything (seeing it's before the cat!) but blinking at me.

Why is your 2nd O2 before the cat??? Do not remove it, you need to have your car working properly before you start tuning. Put it behind the cat of try the MIL eliminator in the how to section. You need to get rid of all the codes on your car and have it running right before you try anymore tuning. That may be why your idle isn't smooth. The MPI doesn't mess with that. Fix the O2, this is a big issue since the MPI is a piggyback and relies on your stock ECU. If the ECU is pissed off, then the MPI will not be "allowed" to work properly. Car must be 100% before tuning.

I will be using the Innovative Motorsports XD-1 Wideband A/F Meter Stand Alone Gauge Kit purchased through www.*************.com or aka: JDMSAM on the forum...

i was figuring you'd say that! it's in the second bung on the down pipe. ya i need to get a bung welded in the pipe after the cat and block off the one in the down pipe. good catch tim!

Yeah I need to start asking people if they have CEL's first. No offense to you though. I would just hold off with trying to tune until you get that done! Bungs are only a couple of bucks. You can use a 18mm oil drain plug to plug that bung if you don't buy an O2 bung with plug. I picked my bung with plug up for 7 bucks from an Antietam auto parts store.

Mark I have a O2 sensor just the sensor no wiring or anything that you can use to block the hole and then when you get a wideband then you can just unscrew the O2 and plug the wideband in.....let me know... and also

Thanks BIGG TIM!!!!....I really learned alot about the MPI that I didnt know when you helped Bazooka Joe and I out Friday night...

No problem!(thumb) You'll learn more once you can tune more after the issues have been resolved. Take it easy on the auto though.

cool! i'm off all day thursday and was hoping to do the mil eliminator
for the second o2 and eliminate the cel and go from there. i rechecked
all my ecu/mpi and TM wiring last night...all the connections are
soldered and correct. i've checked for any vac leaks and none seem
apparent?? we've got to determine what's causing the fuel calibration
issue??
how's thursday for you jeremy?

first, thanks to jeremy once again for running the laptop while i drove...anyway tried to do some tuning but realized i had a gas leak from the 1st injector. i installed the MAM fuel rail and when putting the injector back in the rail i must have nicked the o ring....LEAK! the quest continues!! i should have the o rings tuesday....stay tuned!

At least you found it.....Have you found anything else yet?

i just got the o rings so i'm going to get then in tonight. hay tim, what should the fuel pressure be set at? i had 40 psi? thanks!

You have an adjustable RPR??? I'm in the 40's while driving, I'm not sure the exact number at idle, like 20 or so, I'll check later. If you don't have an adjustable FPR then just slap them in and go. You shouldn't be messing with the fuel pressure anyway, since you have the MPI it's not needed.

yes, and because it's adjustable i wanted to make sure i had it set correctly...mark

It's not a RRFPR is it? Tuning will be different with that, unless you get it set to stock pressure. Why do you have that, if I may ask? I'll get you your numbers when I leave work, I'll post them up tonight.

Timm it's the set up from MAM with the fuel rail and the Aeromotive Regulator....Mark good to see that the parts came in...

Jeremy

Okay here's my Fuel pressure numbers:

31-32 psi at idle
35 psi cruising in 4th at 3000 RPM
40-41 psi accelerating to 0 vacuum
48 psi in boost at 4500 RPM
30 psi decelerating in gear with the clutch out
34 psi with the AC on and both fans running, but that might be becasue the SPAL puts a lot of load on the electronics when it kicks on.

Awwh dammit, I keep forgetting you have an auto. Some of the abov edon't apply then, but it's better to have too much info then not enough.;)
