Hey Brian, instea of a blanket what about a ceramic coating on the exhaust housing of the turbo?

Thanks for the feedback, I mill most definitely post up a shitload of shots when I finally get the turbo T3 Housing mounted to the new manifold. I am curious to see if I will have clearance issues, but discussing with you Lou and Brian (Signature) i think it will work out fine.

I am planning to put a blanket on the hot side to make things happy in there.. Once the diffuser goes on, there will be less flow in the engine bay so I need to get that heat OUT!

Last year i had the same discussion with a Turbo Specialist about adding a Blanket to the turbo, and i can look for the email if needed. He were very direct Dont run Blankets, Jackets etc on the turbo because you will cook the bearings damaging the turbo. You need to run special bearings in order not to melt your turbo inside. Do your research about it before deciding...Sorry if i thread Jacked your thread Brian, honestly it wasnt my intentions. as you can notice im not posting anymore on my threads or any others because i trully think my car and my self time and interest is over. I just Watch, Listen and learn and do my upgrades silently.. Keep the good s*** rolling Brian.

thanks for that info! :) you and brian sure know yall s***! i learn stuff from yall everyday i read yall posts! mybe you can help me out in my build thread! thanks! and sorrry for thread jacking!

Melting bearings because you're running a turbo blanket? C'mon Miguel... Every turbocharged aircraft I've flown uses blankets on the turbine side, and never once in all my years of flying have I cooked a turbo.

theres some that are made out of diffrent stuff.... not all are the same!

What I meant was...

I have a Liquid Cooled Ball bearing turbo...It is even less likely to cook

Maxx This is Exactly what this Turbo Specialist in UK told me about running blankets or Jackets on the Turbo.. This goes to Brian as well and others that are planning on running one.. I would like to add this is true because I bought last year a Turbo Blanket for my 35R and my turbo lasted me a Year as of today its being fixed well replaced because it got ****** up inside and i have to buy a new Cartridge to fix it so it is serious.

Hi Thanks for your email

I do not think that our heat jacket will fit your turbo, we made them especially for the Genuine Garrett external waste gate turbine housing, and your is actually a internal waste gate housing that has been converted to external gate, so our jacket will not fit this.
Also when you run a heat jacket it can cause a problem with the turbo as it retains more heat and this can soak through the turbo and melt the bearing races and then the turbo fails, We only fit the heat jacket to the turbos that we build for performance use and modify the bearing to motorsport spec, this way the turbo is safe to be used with a heat jacket , and then also your under bonnet temps are reduced , and the turbo runs more efficient.

Dude,
I dont care The center cartridge is ******* CHEAP and as far as I am concerned no difernt than
Brakes,
a Spark Plug,
Tires...
They are all wear items

If in a year or two I need a new turbo, I'll just buy a couple of new ones and have it on the shelf..

I have three spare engines waiting for my car... and I can Clearly afford a replacement turbo..

Thanks thought for the information, but in this case we have a diference of opinion.

Agreed. I had to replace my cartridge last year. Kinetic in Vancouver had me a new one the next day, and most importantly, NO CUSTOMS fees.

Stay on topic.... Garret has adressed this issue with there turbos and said only the cheap turbo get the bearing seals due to the heat..

I take it no Texas Mile this year?

Edit:
Just checked out the website and I like all the info in there. It seems that a lot of it can be applied to general engine building. Thanks for taking the time to get the website together.

If I go, it will be in the fall, I suppose I have missed out onthe date..

There is a plan to get a 18 Wheeler and a Car transporter (6 or 8 cars at once) and split the cost..

Thanks for the feedback on the site.. If you (anyone) can think of some thing that you want a How To for let me know... I have done probably every job on that car...
