MP5 vs. CRX

1 thing: power/weight ratio

220whp on a crx could lead to a 12high 13low seconds

220whp on a protege5 - maybe mid 14

Personally, I'd like to see you put a Marshall stack and a drum kit into a CRX. Then maybe I'd consider them even. (band2)

heh.. nice to get some feedback from the hondatech guys on here.. i see the point of this tho.. i think dood just bought the wrong car. -=\

Well, I own three cars. 2003.5 MP5, 2000 Integra GSR, and a 1989 CRX Si. By far, the CRX has the most character. The Integra is much faster than any of them in a straight line. Integra handles like crap. MP5 handles better out of the box than the CRX. But, not by much. And remember, the CRX I am using as a comparison has 213,000 miles on it. We will see how the MP5 does with those kind of miles.
A CRX with a moderately tuned B18c5 will be faster than anything Mazda has out right now, including the RX8.
I love all my cars. Each has its own little quirks and each has a place in my heart. But if I had a chance at a brand new CRX in factory condition, I would sell the Integra and the Mazda to get it.
In factory form, my CRX is faster than my MP5. Close race though. But the CRX feels faster and I have never thought that the CRX is sluggish in second like I think everytime I shift from the quick first gear in the MP5 to the slow second gear.
And by the way, there is a CRX out there with a rear mounted NSX engine. Not sure where but it is on the net, I have seen the write up on it. Cannot see the thinking behind it, with the chasis mods and all.
Enjoy the rest of the debate. But before you guys get your undies in a bunch, try driving the car you are arguing against first. You might just be surprised. sh*tbox, it is not.

Amen DRGSR. I bought a new 91 CRX and drove 280K miles in it until it got totaled by an F150. When it was new it handle better than my new 03.5 P5 and it had cheapo tires on it. Pissed off a lot of Carrera owners on the twisties too. It was however slow as hell in a straight line much like my P5. I'd buy another one if Honda ever produce it again. I drive my P5 for work and drive my modded turbo eclipse for fun.

So you say that parts and stuff are to expensive for the Pro5, but you'll spend money on another car and and spend even more money modding it!!! Why not use that money on the Pro5!!??

if they ever made a new crx, that looked like the concept photo on www.89crx.com , id sell my mp5 in a heartbeat and get the crx. i owned a 1989 crx si, and it was the best economical, most reliable car i had ever driven. i drove the crap out of it, and it never messed up on me. the only thing wrong with it, was it had no ac, and i live in tucson az, no ac in a crx is no worse then a glasshouse, the s*** got SO HOT in the summer. i sold it for $2300 and it was in great condition. it did have some rust due to being from the eastcoast, but nothing to the point where it was going to break. it was great stock, but i think if i did any modding to it, like adding a more powerful engine, the rust mgiht have caused a problem. i still like my mp5 better, just because i love everything about it, by it being slow, it keeps me out of trouble.

i had gotten the worst speeding ticket ever in that crx, i was going 70+mph in 3rd gear and i didnt even know it. that thing sped up so ******* quick it was ridiculous. the crx si's ******* kickass for what they are. i mean... i literally, had no clue i was going that fast in a 35mph zone..... that ticket SUCKED. he said he clocked me at 81mph, but i looked at i was going around 75.

If you look at the 1/4 times of a stock CRX SI and the P5 they are very close. I will take my P5 thanks.

I used to have a 89 crx and oh so miss it. For a good track car you can't beat the crx. The mp5 is a classier looking car though. The mp5 is a great car but can never be the road racer the crx can be. The weight ratio on the crx is so towards the front of the car that its perfect for drag racing. I know a bunch of guys at the local scca who run the crx and I tell you those things get excellent times with hardly any mods done to them. I actually sold my crx to buy the mp5 for my wife since we have three girls it made more since. I also have a civic so we needed something with some holding power thus the mp5.
