Hey guys kinda new here but I've never made a build thread for any of my cars so why not start now!

I have an 03 Msp in titanium gray

She has 95k on her, has some rust that will be fixed this coming spring/summer.

List of mods in the future:
Custom FMIC
Greddy RS BOV
Custom 2.5in catback
ProtegeGarage tubular manifold
Stagg struts w/ Megan springs
Corks port motor mounts
Ssafc
Tint
Wheels

Current status: STOCK

I need to address some issues before I do any modifying. It currently smokes on cold starts ups I believe due to valve seals, so off the head goes

While I'm in there I'm also putting a new pump, all belts and pulleys! The head was just hot tanked I just didn't have time to snap any pics after I pulled it out! I should have it done by next week!!
 
I would love to go forged unfortunately for my car..I have an expensive honeymoon to pay for, which is taking up most of my funds at the moment a lot of the stuff I'm getting are being "donated" haha.

Scratchnsniff that's such an amazing price and I wish I could buy them right now....(cryhard)

The new seals and all of the valve stems were put back vacuum tested and is ready to be put back n
 
Looks like everything is going good so far. So, it was definitely the seal then?
 
Yeah def. the seals, turbo is in good working order I was thinking seals on the turbo were bad but there really wasn't any oil residue.

Good deal. Doesn't it feel great to mark stuff off the list?
 
Yeah it does kind of peace of mind when I know there are new components inside the engine. 2 rust spots are next on my list of repair then I will start modding :)
 
Well the head was put back on with all new seals and gaskets and belts along with water pumpe and pulleys

Next is rust fix and grill and emblem painting
 
Yup, the good stuff will come later on. Pretty impressed with myself being that it was my first head removal.
 
Also I believe my turbo seals are bad, there's a crack in my manifold and oil is leaking from them. intercooler piping has oil in it. So looks like its being sent out next week to be rebuilt. Ill be spray welding the manifold this next week!

Are you just sending it out to garrett than? U should maybe consider a gt28rs

Nice lookin engine bay! Just needs a polished hear shield and ur set
 
Im sending it to a place in state called Midwest turbo connection! I've had friends send their turbos there with great success. 375 for a rebuild, I would consider the gt28rs but wouldn't I have to get a new tune? If I could afford it I would def. go that route.

not really, i mean a TUNE is ALWAYS recommended even if youre on the stock t25. but the gt28 best efficency i believe is in the mid teens for boost. but overall still more HP per PSI of course than the t25. you can run a gt28 on the stock 6-7psi with some sort of AFC being HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
 
ok I guess def. an option for me, this Honda guy in my class swears that if nothing is done to compensate for an upgraded part on a boosted car that "you're more than likely going to blow your ish up". Might have to take the head off again, I checked the clearance on the deck of the head and it all was even but, i'm losing coolant somewhere. I'm pressure checking it tomorrow to see if that will tell me anything! I just want these nightmare problems to go away so I can do some upgrading. Tested out to see what yellow calipers look like

 
PSo a few updates 5/2/13

Fund a used turbo and manifold here on the forums, the guy with the turbo was also nice enough to include his ATP wastegate.

Heat shield restored


After replacing those 2 things I must say the car is night and day now. I can't believe how crappy it was running when I first bought it. It's my first time driving it 100% fixed lol
