Ok, so last night I raced a mid-90's Monte Carlo from a stop light. I don't know how, but I blew it the hell away. We raced to 50mph, and I probably had it by 2 or maybe 3 carlengths.

I really can't count it as a victory though...as my girlfriend was driving the Monte Carlo :-P

I wonder how we'd hold up against them if they had a good driver?

im not sure, but i was on the freeway once and passed a monte4 carlo in a turn. i guess it pissed him off cause he flew passed me. but when we came up to the next turn i slammed on his brakes and i passed him by. on was on the inside of the turn. he kept back after that.

I had a 98 Montecarlo z34 before my p5 (see http://z34.dhs.org) and let me tell you it would not be beaten by the mp3 in a straight line...the monte stock has 200+ horses and 230 lb ft torque..
i raced amny a civic/integra/etc and won by alot

granted it drank the gas..but it i do miss its power

my friend has a basic low line one and we raced from a dead stop and i won at 2 blocks but that was barely against a basic one so an updated one you wouldnt have a chance

There's no question that the Monte is faster in every aspect, and it handles ALMOST as well as the MP3. My SS has the 3.8 V-6 with 200HP. Chevy also made a 3.4 V-6 that had like 180HP, and I believe that the MP3 might take that one off the line, but not in the 1/4 mile. My Monte is stock and my best 1/4 mile time is 15.3, my best MP3 time was 17.5

Well, like I said guys...It was a "mid 90's" version. It was last generation. I doubt it's the z34 (as it doesn't say it anywhere), so I really don't know WTF it has in it. What should I look for so I can tell?

The Mid 90's were a little different. Monte's had either a 3.1 V6 that produced 160HP or a 3.4 V6 that produced 210HP. I don't really believe that there is anyway to tell by looking at the vehicle which engine it had, unless it was a Z34 obviously. But even the lowly LS model could be ordered with either engine.
