MP3 Power

hey guys, i was wondering what mods are best for the mp3 to gain a little more pull. I wanna stay away from forced induction so any suggestions? And how much would a ported head cost and engine management to control the redline? i dont want a race car, but low 15's high 14's would be perfect

Without forced induction you'd have to spend like 4k dollars to get 20hp.. or for 4k dollars get 120+ with forced induction. Check the NA Tech section, there's a guy named Andrew in australia who runs I think mid 14s stock. But I believe the australian model is the FS-ZE that is 170hp stock (so probably 130ish whp stock?)

Of course intake/exhaust is assumed, and on top of that things like an underdrive pulley (or the full lightweight pulley set from SR Motorsports that is crazy expensive), cams, port/polish intake manifold, standalone ECU (like a microtech which is like 1200 dollars)

FI is certainly a great way to go, but a Microtech from NSN Motorsports is an option. I also have a FS-ZE intake manifold that I probably won't install now. I could get it ported and polished for you that would gain you some and a few other things down the line. It is the old saying of speed cost money, how fast do you want to go?

The MP3 is the best of the 3rd gens to go with N/A mods. It's not much but it's better. There are low 15s/high 14s FS-DEs out there. They are pretty heavily modified and running with stripped interiors. Although, LordWorm ran a 15.581 with EMS only!!! TwilightProtege ran a 14.576 and he is very heavily modded.

In the end, it is just really expensive to go for a speed racer with N/A. As far as the ported head work and EMS you are looking at $1500-$2000 at least. However, if you just want a little more pull, get an intake, header, full exhaust, flywheel and maybe pulleys. If you want to be THAT guy like installshield who has completely gone crazy with N/A mods and has made over 190whp and done 14.37, then you can look at pistons, cams, cam gears, ems, and head work.

Here are the N/A times: http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123657932
